Ive always liked the idea of having a tattoo or two. Something subtle, like some ivy (in subtle grey/ brown/ and green)on my wrist or ankle etc

Ive had this in mind for over 3yrs and still havent gone off it... but im put off by the fact it might firstly it may be something rooting from insecurity (ie 'a tattoo will make u look better) and it wont actually make me look any better infact it will make me look worse. Secondly im worried it will put people ie guys off me, my bf had said he's not keen on tattoos... not even subtle ones i wonder? Thirdly what will that look like when i get older... will i look like one of those stereotypical old ladies with wrinkly tats, or will it be subtle enough to have faded away over time and not be noticed...

You shouldn't get a tattoo just for the sake of it, tattoos should mean/represent something that has happened to you or that you believe in!

Well actually ivy does have alot of meaning to me. To me it creates a feeling of mystery, it represents things that are hidden/in the past. Things that have been lost in time.....

Yeh sure, why not.

I mean a lot of people get tattoos for the sake of having one anyway.

Don't get a tramp stamp or **** tag, get one that either has sentimental meaning, or is your own design that you're proud of... And only do it if you're damn sure you want it.
Try using photoshop to design the tattoo and fake it on a picture of yourself, it'll start to give you an idea of what you'd look like, Like so. (Yeah, I know, it's a bad fake, ask a friend for some help if you need it).

Good plan i had considered this... ive already done a few ivy designs on paper, did some fake tattoos with henna in the ivy style i wanted, most people said it looked gd... i keep thinking about doing it and always end up wussing out

Well if you're still so unsure about it I wouldn't do it yet, I'd wait til I was sure it's what I wanted on my body for the rest of my life.
Especially with being worried guys won't like you for it. If it's gonna make you feel less self confident is it worth it?
At the end of the day it's up to you though!
I like tattoos as an art, but I think the body in itself is already so beautiful and drawing on it is kind of ruining it. And you can just keep the ivy as a symbol you hold dear, you don't necessarily have to tattoo it on yourself.
Just my two cents ^^

yeah you should get a tattoo. I really want one on my ankle but I'm nervous about the pain.
Definitely want it at some point though

I dont think you should get a tattoo if your nervous or not sure about it. Getting a tattoo should feel natural, and be a part of your character. (think about the origins of modern tattooing, criminals, bikers, military, gang members)

Also, getting one for a confidence boost is just being silly. The boost will be temporary, and if your tattoo goes out of style as many do (think tramps stamps, tribal, and Chinese symbols)

Im not really fashion conscious tbh ive always wanted this specific thing, as far as i know its not in fashion now. Its not exactly as a confidence boost either i just want on, i think it will look good and in terms of my reason for wanting ivy on myself its like im saying ive got something hidden or obscured... but maybe im being sappy here

If your convinced that its something that you want, and that you will treasure it for time to come then go for it. Don't let anyones opinions hold you back.

I personally dont like girls with one or two small tattoo's. I prefer them with either none, or have a nice sleeve. (nothin crazy tho, no face, neck or hands)

If you do get some ink, don't **** about. Nothing is worse than a girl with a gay little 'I wanted to see how much it would hurt before I got a proper one' tattoo. The only girls who've ever suited tattoos are the ones with the balls to get a real one, little sparrows on your hip or chinese characters on the back of your neck are ********* and make you look like a vietnemese prostitute. Ivy sounds nice, don't worry about whether you would suit it, just make sure you find a decent artist who will make it suit you, your body, your shape.

You have a similar problem to me. I fancy getting Dipsy and pingu plus a bowl of weetabix somewhere on my body but I’m having a hard time deciding whether they’ll suit me and how big I want them.

If you do go with it try get some recommendations for tattooists who specialise in that style - i.e. realistic black and grey with shading... don't just go to somewhere cos it's cheap cos you're pretty much guaranteed to be unhappy with the results.

colours are a bit tricky btw cos they can fade at different rates
