Hi Naigan,

just wondering if you could tell me how long of a break you get between the run and doing the press ups and sit ups during the fitness test? i have been practising with two minute intervals between each.

I have recently passed my fitness test and I don't believe there is a specific time for the gap between each exercise. When I did it the instructor gave me 2 minutes to take on some water and set up for the next exercise.
Hello, what type of interview did you undertake?
you mentioned a sight test, what vision requirements are needed for say a pilot?
I am not with a doctors surgery due to moving house. I've heard they ask your gp to sign that your medical information you gave at your medical is correct. Is this true ? And should I join a civilian medical practice for this ?
i just passed prtc and it was quite an experience xD
i wish you all good luck
bump
Haha what do you mean by 'quite an experience'?! Congratulations on passing
Is this lung capacity test a peak flow or another.

Hi. This forum has been very helpful thanks. My son has just passed his AST's and has his 1st interview in a fortnight. he is going for survival equipment specialist role. He'd ideally like to start by Christmas if things progress well but we haven't been given much of an idea of time frame yet. Any thoughts?
My daughter has got her medical on September 9th and her fitness test on September 15th.
She had her AST 5 weeks ago and her interview 3 weeks ago so things are moving along quite quickly.
She is slightly worried about her fitness test as her run is coming along slightly slower than she anticipated but hoping on the day the adrenalin kicks in and takes her through it. She hasnt really struggled with anything else since her application began and we cannot praise our local AFCO office.
My daughter is looking at going in as an Intelligence Analyst. She is very excited so hoping the next few months go well. Like you, we have no idea on time span but are taking each stage step by step. Not wanting to build our hopes up!!
i had two goes at my aptitude test however they said i was able to come back and have another go in 6 months are you sure you only get two goes?
Hi can someone please give me some advice ? All I need to know is there any other different maths questions that I will need to do apart from the ones on the RAF website and the booklet the careers office give you ? Thank you 😀
Can any one help me out?
I really want to apply for the reserves but I have a holiday booked to go to Ibiza on the 24th of July that is already paid for and everything. If I apply now for the Reserves will I be ok to go to Ibiza (If i get through the selection process will I have started by then?) and if there is any tests or anything will they be ok with allowing to to do it at a later date?
Has anyone on here had to defer their second attempt at the fitness test due to illness????
My daughter was given an extra 2 weeks to get her run sorted out, which she has done, but unfortunately on Thursday got a bad cough which has manifested to a chest infection. Am worried that the RAF will not give her any extra time again to get well. Should she still do the test on Thursday knowing there is a strong possibility that she will fail? Reading the requirements they state that the 2nd test has to be done within 6-8 weeks - well, her 8 weeks is up this week! She is in a right state! Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Call the AFCO and explain they will advise you.
Thank you..........................lets hope they are understanding!
HiJust a general question if that's ok, is there any point in interview to dicusss personal things like pre planned weddings/ holidays etc as I know this recruitment process is highly important and also no clear time scale, but my daughters process at the moment is going quicker than we actually imagined and sooner rather than later would need to look into cancelling the family holiday if need be obviously this comes before a holiday

I asked the OC at my AFCO "how long will the application take" and his reply "as long as you want it to be". My best guess would be to just talk to the AFCO and see if you can arrange later dates.

Hi,
From personal experience I applied in Feb with a specialist interview I was offered basic training starting on the 30th May. I also thought the application would take longer and I have commitments in June. I explained that and my availability to my AFCO and I have know been given mid-July. So they can make it work for you and your availability but they are slight limited by the trade training.
My daughter started her application process in April 2016 and if there hadnt been an underlying issue with her medical, I feel confident she would of been in by now. Anyhow, it is what it is and she is now waiting to do her fitness test in two weeks. We too have a holiday booked at the end of October and it is questionable if she will be able to join us (subject to her completing the next 2 stages) But it is a career she has wanted to do for nearly 6 years and so sometimes sacrifices have to be made. AFCO office are always the best people to speak with to do with any concerns and if they can help you they will, if not, they usually get an answer back to you.
