2nd EDIT, A couple turned up false, so I just wasted half an hour putting this sillyness to bed;

Anaesthetics - Not an invention
Beta Blockers - Scottish
Bicycles - No single inventor, German and french inventors contributed more than the Scottish guy, he just improved on the drive system
Cash Credit - Not an invention
Colour photography - Scottish
Criminal finger-printing - No clear definite inventor, developed over decades by many, none notably Scottish that I could find
Decimal Points - Many ancient mathematical systems involved decimals, the modern system was developed by a Flemish man.
Fax Machines - Very basic, rudementary system invented by a scot, refined by English and Italian inventors into a workable system.
Fountain Pens - Egyptians
Hollow Pipe Drainage - I can't be arsed to research this, let's just let you have it
Hypodermic Syringes - Romans used these, many inventors since have refined and improved
Insulin - A popular one for Scots to claim, but not so. Germans, Canadians and many others began and contributed more to the discovery and refining of insulin production than any Scot.
Kaleidoscopes - Scottish
Motor Insurance - Not an invention
Paraffin - German
Postage Stamps - Many claims to this invention, no clear evidence that it was a Scot.
Quinine - Peruvian Indians
Radar - Several inventors, scientists, and engineers contributed to the development of radar.
Reflecting Telescopes - English
Retail Banking - Not an invention
Tarmac - Welsh
Television -German
Telephone - Many contributed to this invention, Bell was the first to get a patent on it.
Ultrasound Scanners - American
Universal Standard Time - Scottish born Canadian, and he didn't really invent UST.
Vacuum Flasks - Nope, many worked on this, no Scots as far as I can tell.
Waterproof Macs - Scottish

So, that's....5 out of 27? Including hollow drainage pipes which I couldn't be bothered to look at. Also busted a few myths there, how rewarding for me and you.

You can scratch bicycle off that list.

EDIT - Tarmac was invented by a Welshman.

Sorry to be really really pedantic but it's annoying me a scottish person did not invent insulin it is a hormone produced by most human beings they could have discovered it and its purpose (altough I think that was a canadian) or they invented the method of getting insulin from cattle or more recently getting bacteria to synthesise it as a byproduct.

You can't invent something that's already there. He discovered it then forgot about it.

It was actually an Aussie, a German and some Brits that did all the hard work who deserve much, much more credit than Fleming.

Surely england has more. Aside for nationalistic pride, Scotland has never had anywhere near as many people, but the country is effectively the same, so it couldnt realistically be more productive. Unless you think there is some really powerful force that means living north of the border makes you 10 times as inventive...

And once you consider England, you need Ancient Greece/China/Germany/...

Though Scotland's output is certainly impressive.

(Also Television was joint between USA and Scotland, more USA really. And the telephone was NOT invented by Alex Graham Bell, who anyway would consider himself American, having lived basically his entire life there, made his money and fame there and stayed there.)

It's not Scotland. It's either China, England or America.

On another matter. I don't think it is particularly important that a Scot invented the bicycle or fountain pen. Personally I feel the inventors of the car and pencil were more important... whoever they were.
