It sounds like you're right about the card going, but just to make sure what if you try out the card in the second memory slot? How long have you had the card for? When did it stop working, and has it been dropped or put near anything metallic recently?

I was hinting at either taking it back to the shop or contacting Sony. I'm just looking on the internet to see if there is anything about it. What about the other questions i asked you?

Can you access the memory card at all when there is no game in your PS2? Is there any dust caught in the contacts? Have you dropped it or kept it near anythign metallic since yesterday?

You didn't turn off your PS2 when it was saving?

Is there any way that you can try it out on a friend's PS2 or in a game shop, because you don't really want to start poking around with memory cards unless it's essential.

Just found this, it sounds like what you have, although it doesn't give any advice.

The link doesn't work, but type this in and it should work:

eurogamer.net/forum_thread_posts.php?thread_id =4566&forum_id=1

You need to put http://www. before the eurogamer bit

Ok, i'll copy it for you?

Just as it was reaching it's capacity (meaning it had saves for about 30 games on it) my PS2 memory card has decided to die. When its inserted into either memory card slot the console just doesnt see it pah!

Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them?? If so are Sony any good at giving out replacements?

Luckily we've got some dev tools here at work which might allow me to save bits of it I'll have a go later, if not then it'll have to be formatted, *******s!

21-Jul-03 09:32:09 I've never had any problems whatsoever with an official Sony card in over five years. Surprising news! :-o

21-Jul-03 09:32:58 feel for ya man. It happened to me

I don't play any of my old games anymore as I can't be arsed to play them again.

Edit: sorry mine was a 4Gamers card for GC

The best bet i say is phone Sony and see what they say/can do for you.

Which boss?

Anyway, i think your going to be unlucky.
Is the problem that it doesn't read the memory cards there at all, or is it that it can't retrieve the data?
The first means the card itself is messed up, and you'll have to get a new one.
The second may just mean you have to format it.

Either way, i think you wont get that data back.

But i can recommend a memory card to get.
There are these cards, that are activated by CD's, and they contain cheats and stuff on games.
I've got a FFX one myself. Its cheaper than an official one, and also can be very useful if you need items or something, or want to totally cheat on everything!
I think its an HMV exclusive though, so you'd have to get it there.
