To me, god exists as a moral philosophy.
Not one i follow, but that is the only god i believe that there is.

How can you be so sure?
This is a quote from an atheist who is also an author (Iain Banks):

"I don't believe in God but I admit I could be wrong. I don't believe in faith at all because faith is belief without reason, and reason is the only thing we have, the only thing I do believe in. "

Even he is not so dismissive of a god, how can you be?

God is like the permenant record your school says they have of you. Its something there in order to scare you into being a good little boy/girl. If people focused more on each other rather than pleasing a higher being this world would probably be better.

Iain Banks is saying what he did because basically if I were to say 'There is no God' then that would require as much blind faith as to say 'there is a God'.
The fact we have nothing to prove there is a god is in no way indicative of it being true or false.

Image a girl wants to go out on her own... for whatever reasons. Is it safe for a girl to walk alone in town at night ? If the girl says "yes" and gets into troubles... that was her fault, wasn't it? But if she thinks it's not safe and invites her boyfriend along how much fan she'll miss?

I think it's quite the same... i reckon there is one. I will believe in that just in case,

According to that quote, Banks is an agnostic, not an atheist.

An atheist is someone who believes in the non-existence of God.

An agnostic is someone who believes that the existence of God can neither be proved nor disproved. Hence, an agnostic is someone who admits he does not know whether there is a God.

what other choice do you have? who was the creator? just somebody that happened to think, 'hey, lets make earth and the whole universe, and make people live on earth for time immemorial, give them the brain to think...btw, where did I get the brain from...?"
I think that believing in a Supreme Being is the most plausible situation here, how else do you explain the existence of virtually everything? Coincidences and accidents go THAT far do they...?
As for pleasing other people rather than God, it would be worse than the way things are now...wouldnt it?

Well, I believe there is some kind of god, but not 'the God' everyone talks about.
