As I have nothing to on I have been searching google and sending emails to web development companies and IT firms to ask if they take on sandwich year students etc. I have then said if they do I will send them my portfolio and CV.

Is this a good idea? I just don't want to write to 100's of companies only to not get any responce. It costs 30p per stamp plus envelopes.

i would recomend looking aorund various firms either recommended by your uni or college or within your local area. the internet companies may be genuine but there can be hoaxes, consider this before taking any action.
