well as I have spent bout £40 on normal nights out in durham  , a ball starts to be even more expensive

Candlemas (the main ball) at Chad's was £55...I'd agree with Becca and say college ents are often more value for your money.

*has fond memories of bucking bull rides and the chocolate fountain*

Yes, one hundred pounds. But you have no idea how AMAZING the June Ball is. It's prestigious, exclusive, internationally renowned, not to mention fantabulously amazingly fun and brilliant and spectacular and the best night out EVER.
There are people who would kill to go to the June Ball.

what, as much as you can drink for free??

No I think you get 8 free drinks included in the price, a champagne reception at the start where you can have as many glasses as you want and port at the end of the meal. Wine is extra, but it is optional. I didn't have any wine and was drunk enough throughout the 12 hours.
If you're wondering how I could justify the £100, I put aside money for it from my 3rd term's loan installment and made sure I tightened my purse strings in 3rd term.
Seriously, I can tell none of you believe me how amazing the June Ball is, but wait until you get to Durham. You'll hear people talking about it. Not that any of you will get to go anyway.....:p:
i cudnt afford 2 go ne way *sulks*

Well, OK but I think you're only saying that because you're jealous :p: 8 drinks was enough for me, I didn't use all my tokens. Also included in the price is a 5 course meal and food throughout the night and breakfast in the morning, and tons of entertainment. Like I said, people who really want to go will save money like me. Even if you can't really afford it it's worth it.

What kind of entertainment is/was there?

Suppose saving up won't be that bad, and it's the kind of thing you'd regret not going to in the future.

*thinks hard*
There was a lot of live music - a Beatles tribute band, which was really good and a Blues Brothers act which was FAB! I looooved that one. There were funfair things like these cool old fashioned swing boats, a cool flight simulator which I went on twice because it was so much fun, a hypnotist which was really good, a cabaret act, a 'games room' with games consoles and kid's toys like giant jenga and scalectrix a casino, a characaturist, a palm reader, a 'cinema' a babershop quartet (amazing...) a magic act, a comedian, a chocolate fountain.....and probably more that I can't think of right now!
Oh yeah - a fireworks display and a piper to bring in the dawn.
