I'm going to be attending an Officer presentation thing at my AFCO, which I'm pretty sure are the standard procedure before the application process. I was wondering (stupidly?) what the dress code is for this? Should I wear smart clothes, or is it casual?

I wore a suit to mine! i vaguely remember most people were dressed smartly. They are watching you, so its probably best to create the right sort of impression from the start.

Definitely wear a suit and polished shoes! You need to make a good first impression. When I went to my presentation there were a few people who turned up in jeans and this was commented on by the Squadron Leader. If you don't make the effort it will give the impression you're not that bothered about joining the RAF. Good Luck!!

As people have said, you can wear a suit. You are there to create an impression, and first impressions count. You don't have to go in a suit, but at least go in slacks and a shirt. You are not assessed for the presentation, but you will be noticed.

I've been to about 20 P2 presentations

Yeah, I need to get my trousers dry cleaned then. Last time I wore them was to a wedding... and I got a bit too drunk...

I am going for my P2 this Thursday.

I'm not 100% sure on what I can expect...?

What will I have to take? I will be taking my "Record of Achievement" from school, and a "Personal File" I created on myself...will anything else be needed?
All you'll really need is a pen, notepad, the will to live whilst sitting through 4 hours of video and Powerpoint and any certificates etc.. they may have told you to bring in.

Make sure you have a good breakfast before you go.

all I had was half a packet of crips and half a bottle of orange while driving :s
It may get very hot in the P2, did in my case, so if your in a suit and havn't started sweating away get your coat of asap!

Is that all it will be? 3-4 hours of listening/watching, with maybe a little Q&A thrown in for good measure?

yeah. mines started just after 1pm, and ended by 4:30. There is some Q/A thrown in, but each CO I think likes to handle this differently.

May not sound much, but the info you can gather from this Presentation stands you in very good stead for the Filter interview. Dont think it's just a formality you have to go through to get to the next stage... use it to ask as many questions and get as much info as u can!

We had a practice OASC group discussion, but it wasn't assessed!

Slightly worried that people think pens are sexy

Although the pens with the ladies in bikinis are a little, the ones where when you click the top to write her clothes fall off

Clothes on- Click- Clothes off- Clothes on- Click . Oh happy days
