Hi,

Got a beast of a mouth ulcer thats annoyingly painful anyone got any cures/remedies they can recconmend?

vitamin C and bonjela all the way!

get the vitamin c tablets that dissolve in your mouth and leave it on the ulcer, feels strangely nice

You could just leave it, they normally go away by themselves over night, just try not to irritate it(i know its hard!). Theres not much ou can do with ulcers in your mouth as you cant put creams on them, for obvious reasons. I would just leave it, it will go away. Of course you could just completely ignore what i said and hope someone says a magical cure!

Get a glass of water and put a load of salt in it, mix together and rinse it around your mouth (dont swallow it) then it should numb it for a couple of hours. Its what i do, and it works like wonders

i suffer from ulcers quite a lot, i have been to the doctors and dentist about them, but neither can sauggest any way of treating them properly, as people have said salt water, vitamin C, bonjella, anbesol and things like that are all methods of jsut numbing the pain, there are also tablets that are avaliable from the doctors which they tell yuo to keep in your mouth and hold over the top of the ulcer and it should numb it and help it to heal, there are so may things out there which can help to treat ulcers, no idea how effective they are, i jsut leave mine now, nothing really seems to affect them, but they can be casued if you aren't getting enough sleep or you are feeling generalyl low and can be caused by hormone imbalances in teh body. i would speak to your doctor/dentist about ulcers coz they are a pain in the arse and there are loads of things avaliable but not all of them are that effective!

Likewise. Bonjella eventually works for me though.

Hydrocortis..... sorry not much help, i can't spell nor remember the name of the tablets that were earlier mentioned, but that is the start. You can get them from chemists, but it's about £6 for 20.

I was gonna make a thread about these actually, I've got 6 atm. I've no idea why, I usually only get them when I'm stressed...

I use TCP to help get rid of them. It also numbs them somewhat.

Got one on my tongue... so not nice :frown:

Salt water is the simplist and best solution pal.

Reply 10

Salt water and bonjella work well

Reply 11

I agree, TCP. It just numbs you're whole mouth, it's awesome. It's like nuking your mouth.

Reply 12

Bonjella is good but when the pain eases off, use "gingigel" (i think that's what it is called). It repairs the gum and my dentist constantly raves about it.

Reply 13

a course of vitamin B complex tablets ALWAYS does the trick...

Reply 14

Rinstead Pastilles and Bonjela

Reply 15

bonjela, bonjela, bonjela. I like the advert were the ulcer is that bloke in spandex and he gets covered in goo.

Bonjela!

Warning the following advice may sound stupid, hippish, airy-fairy, nonsencical, jibber-jabbar -> here it goes!

speaking from an alternative medicine (still listening - i haven't lost you have I?) point of view this could be to do with excess heat ie: poor digestion - are you have eating junk food and not enough water?

ulcers tend to be a manifestation of excess heat I believe - drink water! healthy diet!
