Because some people don't understand:

Brown – Hip, fashionable, post-modern, laid back, known for naked donuts and graduate schools.

Columbia – Based in Manhattan, modern yet traditional, urban, more practical and socially active, known for protests in the 60’s.

Cornell – A collection of colleges, international campus with an international student body, heavy fraternity organization.

Dartmouth – the place for undergraduates, the smallest, most intimate school, ‘teaching, not researching’. Very tech oriented.

Harvard – the country club, the board room, the big brother, most well known and renowned. The ultimate of the mainstream.

Penn – “America’s first university”, open debate and communication, one of the largest, most expansive ivy league universities, but rarely the best.

Princeton – Engineering and technology school, the ‘jock school’, very research oriented, also has merit-based financial aid – the “smart poor kid’s” school.

Yale – The Power university, political connections, presidential alumni. An exclusive club with even more exclusive secret societies.

Harvard= Cam
Yale=Ox
MIT=Imp
Columbia=UCL
Princeton=LSE
Stanford=Warwick
Brown= Durham

Just taking the top 7 in the UK and trying to assign an approximate equivalent

Harvard = TVU

Though really, you can't compare them, except for Oxbridge, the only two super rich universities in this country.
oh god not again

Yeh your the first one who I think understands what I'm saying. MIT=Imperial because of the technology/science, and geeky (stereotype) crowd

I'm going to go out there and say that there is NO equivalent to Yale. Why? Watch this:

Golden Triangle + Warwick =
Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, UCL, Imperial, Warwick.

By ivy league I was referring to their prestige and research value

Why would they have "equivalents"? Do I have an equivalent American person? Oooh, I wonder where my equivalent American house is!

Also, American unis are just downright nicer than British ones on the whole.

Somewhere amongst Oxbridge, the Russell's group and Durham possibly.
