fair enough, but its also our own fault for distancing ourselves from them.

arent we the 4th biggest econ. in the world after usa, germany and japan. i think italy and france are basicaly the same but slightly below the uk.

No, I doubt it. I was just thinking along the lines of "The Quad", but yea the EU are part of that so it's irrelevant.

The Chinese economy is larger than the British though surely?

We don't exactly have a great realtionship with the curren administration though do we.... The Irish community has always been unswerving loyal to the Democrats anyway.
