My first neg rep was given with the comment "media studies is really hard" (most of it has been grey gems thankfully). Fair enough if you give negative rep to someone who is insulting, abusive etc. but not simply for a disagreement in opinion.

do people actually give rep when they agree with a thread anymore? i know neg rep is give when u make outrageously bad posts, but it seems that rep is auctioned out nowadays......
