It's sort of along the lines. The pilots wear jackets which help keep the blood circulating around their body under huge G forces. If the pilot were to have their jacket zipped from bottom to top, the jacket would come un-done when pulling huge G-force manoeuvres, which could result in the pilot passing out and inevitably dying. The solution to this is have the jackets zip up from top to bottom, so they don't come un-done during flight.
