Thought you might like to know that the warden is a he not a she, could be a bit embarasing if you get it wrong. As for cupboard space you should be alright even if you arrive last as there are one locked cupboard per person and plently of space for pans under the work surfaces.

In answer to the many questions you've asked, i'm Adam and about to start my 3rd year of aero engineering and will be one of the hall bar managers so will hopefully see most of you down the bar :beerglass
cool is there any jobs going in the hall bar? I thought it was a male but when i emailed someone called janet emailed back. lol
hiya nikki,

ive jus added u 2 my msn-but im off now- so ill hopefully chat 2 u soon

Janet isnt the warden, she the executive assistant (i think thats the title), all the rooms are the same size and have the same stuff except for a few disabled rooms which everyone wants as they are significantlly bigger. As for what time you arrive that wont really affect which rooms you will have as they will have been decided before you arrive.

If feel sorry for those arriving during 9-10, i rememebr doing it meyself a few years ago, i dont even want to remember what time i had to get up.

On the bar side there will be jobs going, the exact details havent been sorted but during one of the meeting you have we will let you know
ahhh okies....yea atleast i aint gota be up early! then agen i best still get some cupboard space hehe. If you do work in the bar how flexible is it and stuff? cus i dont think i will have time for many shifts just one night a week would do me.
I'm Katie and my msn is [email protected], and I'll be arriving between 10 and 12.

So do they allocate individual rooms before we get there, or just stick 6 people in a flat and let them fight it out? Lol...
i think they allocate them because the person i emailed said that they hadnt done the allocations yet, we will find out on the day.
i tried to add you to msn but it said you hadnt got an account katie
It's ok now I've added you  That was weird.

I'm glad they haven't allocated the rooms yet because when I returned the agreement thingy I also asked not to be put on the ground floor. I hope they can do that for me!

Finally! Another person doing Aero  Admitedly you're in your 3rd year and i'm just starting but it's nice to know people actually do the subject  What's it like? Any advice to pass down to the younger generation? Glad to see that I should have some free time for a job (assuming Hall Bar manager is what it sounds like it is  )

You wont be the only aero in the hall, Durdham always seems to have some a signifiacant number of aeros. Also i know there is a 2nd year aero in halls this year so if your ever stuck there are a couple of older people to ask. As for the hours your an doing an eng course so hoe you weren't expecting only a few hours a week. You will have a lot more lectures than most people but still get a lot of free time.
dont worry abt bein shy!-i stil haven got the knack of this chat room stuff yet!

Only going from happened last year a lot of people applied to work the bar so that we were able to pick enough people so they only work a shift a week (give or take the odd week). And the managers tried to make sure shifts were not on nights that you had societies. Then again you could always swap shifts.

Havent decided yet how stuff will run this year but i expect it to be similar

Heh, i'm not actually in Durdham,I just barged my way into the thread after seeing an aero person  Don't worry, I wasn't expecting only a few hours, always figured there'd be loads. A friend of mine doing Mech Eng at Durham seemed to think that although I'd have lots of lectures, I wouldn't neccessarily bring so much work home though so hopefully thats the case at Bristol.
has nebody actually visited durdham?coz i havent!

whats it like"?
I've been wondering this as well.

I'm Sarah and will be doing chemistry

Hey guys! I'm coming back to Durdham this year. Didn't really have much in common with my flatmates last year (three/four of them hardly left their rooms and the returners among them made no effort to get to know us either) so I'm back for another go at the whole fresher thing.

I suppose you're gonna find out what it's like soon but would anyone like me to put a few pics up on here or my webspace? Pics of my room, kitchen, and around Durdham etc?

Don't worry, I wasn't expecting only a few hours, always figured there'd be loads.

I had an Aerospacer in my flat and he never stopped working!! He was always working very late on Fridays and Saturdays and stayed at Durdham all Easter holiday doing work!!
yeh-post some pics!
