If you have a good reason to suspend your studies such as a death in the family or a prolonged illness, then yes. But you would probably have to devise a plan with your tutor/lecturers as to how you will catch up with the work you've missed if/when you return.

If you just don't feel like turning up, no.
Some might, but they'd want a good reason (i.e. medical or extreme personal) and would likely expect you to take the year again/sit the exams in the resit period.

It's not something you should do just because you "want to"

I hear its possible to take a year or two out and come back to the course. Leave it too long though and the course itself may change.
