I am, hence the 'I'm in Hawthorn Halls' post.
Lol I'm just kidding. Nice to see someone else with the 1mile-ish walk into campus! I'm in block Z, in a flat. Are you excited?

didn't see that one, oh well never mind, i can't wait, we even have are own bar. The long walk doen't bother me too much, i used t have to walk further every day to get to school. What are you studying?

Reply 3

I'm just lazy, I'm sure I'll get used to it soon enough. I'm studying Psychology and Education Studies. How about you?

Oops, I replied in the other Hawthorns post before reading this. That's pretty much all I know because I didn't go look round. Oh and I think that the first few blocks of Hawthorns are mainly finalists.

H block is an all girls block i think, with about 25 rooms, don't be put off by hawthorns, the walk is fine and although the blocks look a bit pre-historic its great fun down there and you get used to it (although you never think you will when you arrive).

am sorry people, but Hawthorns has to be the worst place whereby one can stay throughout the academic year. I have been in Oaks B, and HollyCross for my 1st two years which i have very much enjoyed and appreciated.

The fact of having to share the shower/ toilets is quite scary...saying such i think if the latter does persist in your situation >>>Horwood is the best place to be..the location and proximity to the campus facilitites is well within walking distance

all the best

Unis what you make it though, and the people are more impotant imho than how many people i may have to share with. I've heard it's like their own community with a really good atmosphere, which I'd rather have tbh.

How do you know Hawthorns is so bad if you haven't stayed there - and what makes you say it's bad? (That's genuine curiosity because I'm staying there not sarcasm!)

Dude I was actually in Hawthorns, and it was great, yeah it would have been cool to have en-suite, but personally I think that extra £20 a week or however much it is, is better spent on you social life.

Reply 15

Well i had a friend living there last year, whom i also visited..Apparently the bathroom has mould growing within as well as general rooms.

Hawthorns simply doesnt appeal to me, i would rather spend the additional £20 if not more to secure an en-suite on campus than live in Hawthorns. I really dont need to think finance as everything is paid for me,,,

i was just offering some advice!!!

good luck

Not all of us have such a cushy life though, thanx for your advice it was really useful, can u notice any sarcasm?

Yeh, that was pretty arrogant to be fair - most people have to pay for their own accomadation so wanna save as much money as poss!

i've lived in hawthorns, barnes, horwood and off campus, in a variety of accommodation and whether you enjoy it or not it is down to the individual, the rooms and facilities are not going to be as good as you get at home but when you've personalised them and got to know people you live with / live near you'll find it's fine, and remember at the end of the day it's just somewhere you sleep, if you don't want to spend time there then you can study in the library, eat somewhere else go out evenings and weekends.

i'm moving back to my new home in hawthorns and i'm looking forward to being back there, it is great fun.

If there is mould then I'll just clean it.
If that's your opinion than fair enough, I guess we'll judge it for ourselves when we get there  Ooh, not long to go!
