If you go to your insurance instead of your firm, you have to apply for halls again - whether or not this is before results day depends on the uni, so take a look at their accommodation policy for the answer.

As for student finance, you fill in a Change of Circumstances form, sections three, four and five, and send that in to student finance.

You're welcome, thanks for the rep.

I just realised you also asked about how long. You can complete and send a CoC form the same day, so that's not a problem. Sorting out accommodation at the uni might take a bit more - you can apply on the same day, but won't hear back for a little while, and the deadline for replying to any offer might be during your holiday.

Oh, so your insurance is ARU? What are you going to study?

I don't live in halls, so can't give any personal experience, although I do know some things about them, provided you're on the Cambridge campus.

There's two halls on-campus - Peter Taylor and Swinhoe - but they tend to go pretty quickly. There's a few off-campus ones, of which Anastasia is right opposite the campus and Bridget's and Nightingale are in the city centre (on this map, if you can find Downing Street, they're along there - I'd say about ten minutes away.) Then the uni own and lease some houses, but if they can't accommodate you (massive shortage of uni accommodation in Cambridge) you'll be referred to the YMCA, Sedley Court (which I don't know much about) or The Forum (which I do - it used to be sheltered accommodation for the elderly, so is in a residential area, meaning you can't run wild without the residents complaining to the group that own it.)

From what I've seen of the accommodation, it seems decent enough - not luxurious, but then what uni accommodation is? Seems well furnished, some of them are quite newly done, they seem clean and not too small...
