    Hi guys,

I am new to this website so please excuse any mistakes I make!

I will be sending of my UCAS come September/ October 2010 and had a few questions about studying Law.

My top choices are UCL and Birmingham. I got 5 A*s and 5 As at GCSE, is this too low, particularly for UCL? If I do well at AS and get a sound LNAT score will it be okay?

Also, what kind of LNAT scores did offer holders get? I know my year of entry is now gonna be out of 45, but what did you guys get out of 30?

If you have any other advice please could you let me know!
    Thanks

    It's gone up to 45?

I hope I take a gap year now, that makes things more interesting...

i applied to both ucl and birmingham

    GCSE - 4A* 7A 1B 1C
AS - AAABD (Law, Psychology, General Studies, Maths, Chemistry)
A2 (PREDICTED) - AAAA (Law, Psychology, Maths, General Studies)
    LNAT - 16

offer from birmingham, rejection from ucl
feedback from ucl was that my lnat score wasn't high enough

Oooh congrats to you on your offers! Did you have a lot of work experience then? Would you say its more about your personal statement and LNAT score, if your predicted AAA?

    Why not stick with Northumbria?

    I may do.
I don't know why I said "I hope." I meant "if I take a gap year, that'd make things more interesting."

I'd change it, but there's little point now.
Thanks for your two cents though.

Rejection from UCL, offer from Birmingham.

    GCSEs: 6A*, 5A, 1B
    AS: AAAB
    A2i: ABC
    A2ii: AA (retake student)
    LNAT: 22

I was probably rejected cos I had to retake exams...

I was, however, rejected by Kings last year with A2 predictions of AAA and LNAT score of 19.

If you get AAAA, by all means, reapply..

i had no work experience but i did mention a placement that i had secured
personally, i think it is a bit of everything and every uni is looking for different things and places emphasis on different aspects of your application

Look at the LNAT results thread 2010 (you should be able to find it using the search function). I got 22 but I didn't apply to UCL and Birmingham.

Again, thank you for you two cents.
I have already obviously concocted a results day plan for every eventuality.

    Good luck with your degree.

Did you need to retake the whole year? It's quite strange that a candidate with a prediction of AAA and a good LNAT score would get rejected by King's .

Also, sorry to be a pain! Offer holders... roughly what month did you receive your offers?!

Applied to UCL, though not Birmingham. I didn't do GCSEs, so this is a bit irrelevant, but I got 23 on the LNAT and got in. Think the offer came through late November if I recall correctly.

GCSE's: 6A*'s 4A's 2B's (includes couple of short courses and a gs GCSE i had to take in y 12 though) plus Merit and Pass in ICT.

    A levels: A*A*A

    LNAT: 18

Going to Nottingham for Law this Sep.

If you're that worried about the LNAT, bear in mind there are some very well respected Law schools like Warwick, Southhampton, Exeter (and i know people who got into Brum with 8-13 in it) that don't ask for it.
