Well, I just watched American Beauty for the first time and I have to say, without a shadow of a doubt I have never seen a more beautiful film and I doubt a film will
ever have me so enthralled that I'm literally rooting for Leicester and on the edge of my seat the entire time. No film has ever made me feel just so... amazed! It's amazing haha.
Honestly, I just wish I could watch it again for the first time. The feeling I got when watching that, I just couldn't stop. It's fantastic. I haven't loved a film this much since Donnie Darko.
The first time I watched it, I thought it was dull, and a whole load of hype about nothing. Second time, I was sort of "converted" I shared a similar view to you.
Third time I watched it, I realised that gut feelings are there for a reason, and tbh it's really not that good. If you really look at it, it's
so pseudo-intellectual in the way it tries so hard to be "deep" and "different", to an extent it becomes just plain boring. It's really quite ****. The kind of thing "I'm-so-none-conformist-and-deep" teens will put as their fave film on myspace.
