I love the second, more even than the first, maybe also cos I'm a bit of a De Niro nut :colone: ... but the third...well... it's quite a good film if you disregard the other two but as the conclusion to the trilogy I was disappointed.

Ok then I might watch something else before watching the third just out of curiosity! The second I'll get right to, no sleep for me :colone:
Havent seen many De Niro films, only the ones like meet the parents, Analyze that and such :colondollar: Where should I start?

Favourite?

Also as a Bond freak what do you think of Danny-Boy Craigy-Waigy?

Daniel craig has got that rough edge that Dalton had, but my favourite has to be Brosnan in Golden Eye

Yeah good plan!
Haha they're nothing like the real De Niro! Well Godfather II is a good place to start tbh then probably ease yourself in with Mean Streets, Casino and Goodfellas (and Heat, another with Pacino ) before moving onto things like The Deer Hunter, Taxi Driver and Raging Bull and eventually, my favourite, Once Upon A Time In America  and then there are a few, what I see as "lesser" ones like Cape Fear and Frankenstein which are good but not really his style so much so I don't think he shines as much in them. His best performance is widely regarded to be in Raging Bull but I just love Once Upon A Time In America... yes I could go on a major rant about him.

There are also lots of films where he's part of a larger ensemble cast (like Jackie Brown or Brazil) when he's good but not a main character so not so great if you want to obsess like I am right now!

I'm ashamed that there are still a couple of his big ones I need to see

Good to know  lol sorry I'm not extremely Bondy (I want to be but never gotten round to watching them all!)

My love for that film has no bounds. I friggin' love it. Defo in my top 10. It's awful, but it's genius (and obviously the game added to it a lot..)

Me and my brothers pretty much quote Ourumov all the time.

USE THE BUMPER, THAT'S WHAT IT'S FOR!!!

hehe :colondollar: I know, though considering the circumstances I think I've developed quite the taste for music and films

Thanks, I'm very sure about the fact that I'll like em
If your initial exposure to De Niro was garbage like that you should go punish enjoy yourself with the directors cut of 1900.

Not at all. Two of his best performances in those films.

Nah, not really. I've only paid attention to the Craigs and, unfortunately, Die Another Day :frown:

I'm sorry you had to experience that. No one should ever be subjected to such tripe as DAD.
See the first 4 Bonds and leave it at that.

I was brought up to have a healthy appreciation for Bond. I've seen most of them, and Connery is clearly the best bond tbh :indiff:

I like Die Another Day for two reasons - it has Rosamund Pike being really hot, and my first fencing teacher was one of the stunt doubles :h:

From Russia With Love is my favourite. Ridiculously pared-down script, elaborate sets (how many other films feature a gypsy death-fight as part of a prelude?), and the entire film is just so cool. Love it.

Craig is the most talented actor to play Bond and definitely in the top two fits for the role. Plus he's been in one of the best Bond films ever. Anyone who slags him off because he's got blonde hair and that his films are rubbish because they've got no gadgets is an idiot.

Moore is the worst Bond.

That is blasphemy and you should be ashamed of yourself.

I'd neg you and call troll if I didn't respect you so much. :p:

Agreed, agreed, agreed.
Red Grant is such an underrated Bond villain. If it wasn't for Q's gadgetry he'd have clearly succeeded in killing 007 and made the rest of the series obsolete. He wasn't just a match for Bond, he was actually better than him :holmes:

Think I'll watch The Battle of Algiers.

Edit: Or Ningen no joken, but I don't have 9 hours to spare right now...
(edited 13 years ago)
I'm gonna watch 101 Dalmatians. Cultured, I am!

Spoiler

But I have a 1080p screen... I can't see the pixels. Well, I can't see them without going inches to the screen.

Not only that, but if it wasn't for him Bond would have died at the gypsy camp most likely. The opening scene with Grant is one of my favourite ones for the whole franchise.

Not to mention Klebb is pretty bad-ass as well.
