NHS doctors and dentists, etc

I am about to return to London. Every time I have lived in London, I kept my German health insurance and went back when I needed to see a doctor. Only had to go to the A&E once.

Now, I want to register with a GP (I go to Goldsmiths College and will live in Borough, close to St.Thomas and Guys Hospital.
I also wanna know how the dentists work in the UK!

On top of that, I was wondering where you get the pill in the UK?

So, if someone knows all this stuff, and feels like passing on the info, I'd be forever grateful.

Why you going to live in borough for goldsmiths?
its much cheaper and quicker to get there from somewhere like lewisham or new cross.
there is a couple of dentists on the borough high street (one opposite HSBC) i think, and theres a GP surgery in the area too. theres also a GP surgery down old kent road near tesco (the Duncow surgery) which will be about 20 minute walk for you.
personally i use the NHS DENTIST which is in fulham broadway - quite a distance to travel, but nice and cheap and very efficient!

I think you might struggle to find an NHS dentist, they're in big demand! You can get the pill from any family planning clinic or GP. You can find your nearest family planning clinic on www.yell.com. I go to my GP as she has all my notes and knows about my family health history. Good luck

Jamie- not that it matters in any way, but I am going to live with my husband and we love Borough, not a fan of New Cross and Lewisham at all. Also, need the easy access to other parts of the city. On top of that, it is only 5-7 min on the train to New Cross/Gate from London Bridge! Thanks for the info though.

cleas001- I will be living in London permanently , but thanks anyway.

Looks like for the time being I will stick with my German dentist and will get go to a GP somewhere in Borough
