o right, okay then... regattas are cool, espeically the bigger events... head races are fun too - the ones on the thames are the best i think... plus ones in bedford - because i know the river and can watch from the club balcony

i just jabber on about rowing things as if everybody knows what im on about - you probably understand more than others if ure mate is aidens captain

do you know when the first head in durham is? i cant wait until i get my marys kit - not that i like the all-in-ones much.... but anyway

im gona get some knee high socks to race in this year... never did last year cos i was coxing

It's aidans

I understand a little, lol I was quite scared first time I saw my mate in his kit

I don't know when the first head is, sorry, email the mary's captain!

woops, keep thinking its aidens... when it is aidans - sorry

february is ages away!!

i might come back to bedford for 16th october and race in a head

all-in-ones arent the nicest things, the splash tops are cool... i like the look of marys kit - nice colours, my current club colours are red (manily), bit of blue as well

o right - didnt know that

all i really want to do atm is fours head in november (oxford/cambridge boat race course but we start where they finish, etc)... was thinking of pairs head but thats early october time i think so crews might not be very good then

i havent seen the hatfield kit - might look now... ive just seen the adians rowing website - the mens crews page is good - with the piccy of the boat and the ppl who row at whichever seat

I may be wrong but most of the durham crews are 4s or 8s

yer, i think your right really... thought marys has a double - so i could scull in that, or borrow a durham school quad - not sure what the deal with them is though...

i will miss my rowing club when im at uni because i can just go in any boat really any time of the day and do most races that i want to

Well as lots of the rowers will be new to rowing you'll have a massive advantage and will probably row more

yer that is true

im still a novice - both sculling and rowing... though ive been sculling and rowing for two years now, although from october 2004 - july this year i coxed... i did nearly lose novice at st neots in a double - got beaten by 1 and 1/2 length which was quite close

i do hope i get in a good crew though!

you might think you're a novice but I'm sure there is a lot worse! I think I could do better than the people I watched from the durham school. Their rhythm was awful, they were hardly moving.

Have you rowed at durham before?

lol - i was out last weekend coxing a junior boys 4 and saw a school 4 - it was awful, mine was way better!!

no i havent rowed at durham before... seen the river though and ive seen a race on it, my bro was racing for hild bede in the cup thing i think

im not liking the look of a bridge ive seen - bit thin... not much room for error, should be okay though if i got used to it

Yeah that's what I was gonna mention, it's near impossible as you can see very little of the exit until you're in it. Though if you're not doin a 2km you won't need to go through it

cool

on the river i train on atm i have three arch bridges to get through - not too bad once your used to it

2K seems ok - most head races are 2K i think... local/ small ones anyway

think im gona leave here now... got training in the morning so need to be up at about 6:30 im thinking - arghhh
