That's gutting. can't your parents sub you to do a test near your uni?
Reply 4
did you hit the curb or mount it? Thought hitting it is normally only a minor fault?
jayne87
i am so gutted i did the best driving i had done in ages only had 4 minors but on the rerverse park (which i hate and have had so much dificulty with) i hit the curb :frown: its so typical he asked me to do that manover

i failed my first test in exactly the same way, end of the test, and i get back to the test centre, i know i have driven well throughout the test, he asks me to do the bay park and i reversed into the bay, and as i put my foot on the brak to slow the car, the car touched the kerb, but it wasn't with any force, i didn't feel it, the guy got out and had a look, and got back in and said i am sorry to say you have failed and its because the wheel touched the kerb!!! i only had 5 minors in that first test. and it was literally the last second of the test. and to be honest it was a silly thing to do, so i jsut laughed it off, and made jokes about being this close to passing <-> ... but don't wory, you will know if it comes up next time you are going to be able to do it better. and i had to park in exactly the same bay last thursday and passed my test with only 4 minors second time round.... All the best drivers pass second time round!!

best of luck for your retake, and be same in the knowledge ure not the only one who has done it!

I'm sorry that you failed your test, it's gutting isn't it. I failed mine yesterday and am in the same sort of situation as you. Instead of taking lessons during term time I'm going to book a test for towards the end of the Christmas break, take a few lessons to get me back up to speed and then do my test again.
Good luck when you take your test again

Just don't give up and you'll get there in the end :hugs:

Its between £18-22\hour around here.

Emergency stop is basically firm foot on the brakes (but dont slam it), assuming the car has ABS (virtually all do now). Make sure you engage the handbrake and go into neutral as soon as the car is stationary.

Edit: Oh, and keep the car straight.

Isn't just touching it a minor, and only mounting it (or flying into it) a major

yeh im supposed to pay 21.50 but i pay 19 so i guess its not that bad! I know it shud be a controlled stop but i cant help panicking when they say stop!

Im a bit too heavy handed with the foot break i think and the car hasn't got ABS so i have to pump it but i pumped too late!
Did my second test yesterday, same examiner failed me for the same thing as my first one! (forwards observation whilst bay parking). Can't get another test til December. I hate the DSA.

Hey,

Sorry to hear you failed! Don't get to frustrated over it though. I failed my first test a few weeks ago and I got really upset afterwards but it just isn't worth it. I now can't retake mine for ages cos I'm back up moving into new house for uni. I filed on my reverse aound a corner because, he told me to pull up and do manouvre, butas he did loads of cars started coming up behind, so I said I was going to wait for them to go passed before I started. Anyway, I waited a couple of minutes for them to go by, then the road clears, but in the very far distance, there was a lorry. If I had of waited, I would have failed for sitting and waiting for ages for a lorry which was ages away. So I start reversing round the corner, I get almost the whole car round except one tiny bit of the bonnet and I mean literally an inch, and the lorry is coming up really fast, he had to pull out few centimetres over the centre line of the road (it' not like he had to mve onto the other side completly!) and I faile because I had mae the lorry have to change it's course.

I was so annoyed because the lorry could clearly see me and should have slowed down but he didn't! So I now officially hate lorries!

Thats a really odd thing for them to fail you on. Your examiner must have been mean.

Soon as the signal's given, get on the brakes, because if it was a kid in front of you, you'd have roadside pancake...

Unwritten rule of driving: remain calm at all times, because otherwise your judgement is severely affected.
