This will be a useful thread come results day and the rounds of allocations.

How does accommodation swapping actually work? :s-smilie: do you have to contact each residency hall or the uni itself?

im actually not sure to be honest. i think what u do is if two ppl agree to swap.. u can call up the accommodation service and tell them that u guys wanna swap and i guess they would then send out a confirmation thingie to both of u and ask for confirmation. then its done. : )

I'm going to subscribe to this thread and come 19th August I might be back here with an offer jman. I quite like Hampstead and I'd rather be there than some of the places that are closer to Waterloo/Strand. I don't think you'll get much of a response here for a few weeks until undergraduates start getting offers.

edit1: I have Cantebury Hall.

Whoever got Wolfson or Great Dover. Please let me know. I want to swap.

Offer expires Aug 11, 2010. edit4: Not my choice; the housing office only gives you 7 days to accept or decline.

edit2: VERY CLOSE TO STRAND and WATERLOO. this is actually a great location except all my classes are at wolfson!

Got my 12th choice, KCH...looking for something closer to the Strand Campus, self-catered/en-suite preferably.

Isn't KCH a postgraduate hall?!! And I thought international students got their first pick or priority or something

Aaah :frown: what choice was Canterbury Hall on your list? And why does your offer expire on the 11tg? UK students don't find out their accommodation stuff until the 19th at the earliest.

Well I believe that it was supposed to be a significant factor in your allocation...but it doesn't seem so. Have you been assigned to your residence already?

It wasn't even on my list. I stopped prioritizing after 5 choices.

it expires because the office only gives you 7 days to make a decision.

I really doubt any UK students will get housing.

Get housing as in...? I don't understand :o:

And the problem is in your application! If you stopped ordering after 5 it would have considered all the rest as equal preference therefore you really should have ordered them all.

Nope, I get my results on the 19th and UK accommodation allocation for KCL begins after that, if we have got the required grades :frown:

After my five choices, I did consider the other choices as equal. Equally bad. to be honest, the housing office did say that most people would get into 1 of their top 3 choices.

Maybe a lot of people but it's obviously not always the case :o: sorry that you didn't get your choice but kcl halls are really oversubscribed so it would have been wise to order all. Even the ones you don't like.

I think each hall has a limited number of places to allocate to postgrads, maybe that's why some of you got some of your lowest choices? Sorry :frown:

WHAT?

I got King's College Hall.

It was not even not my list??

Anyone let me know if they want this place, I'm gonna be at Strand and I either need Stamford street or great dover.

I am wondering here how you guys will go about sawpping? Do you find someone who's willing to exchange then call Accommodation Services and let them know? All this before the deadline?

I got College Hall (Intercollegiate) and I prefer self-catered, so if anyone having SSA or International Hall is willing to change please get in touch
