I'm not entirely sure to be honest, I've not really read into it, all I do know is that it's usually a hell of a lot more expensive, and for a student, thats not good

Mind you I have had some organic veggie, and sometimes I can taste the difference, but it might just be because I expect it'll taste different

i was on the student diet before lol- mainly 8p tesco value noodles!
anyway. i tried organic bread and cottage chese and it was much nicer. i was wondering it it was healthier

Reply 3

well most probably seeing as there wont have been random crap put into it.

Reply 4

yes but the 'random crap' might be stuff like antifungals and preservatives which are GOOD as they heklp the food last longer. and GM foods might have more vitamins

Reply 5

well if they dont last as long then just eat them quicker?

basically you dont need the chemicals they put on them..otherwise they would grow naturally like that.

Reply 6

but like GM ones can have eg extra vitamins added, no seeds etc and they r cheaper than organic ones.

Reply 7

cheap has nothing to do with health.

as for added vitamins...i dont think there'd be that much to really make a difference. i'd rather eat 2 organic tomatoes than one thats been messed about with genetically.

Reply 8

the problem with non organic produce is that the pesticides etc they put on them are essentially poisonous. So each time you consume the produce more and more of these poisons build up in your system, and have been linked to various illnesses and cancer.

pesticides are produced naturally as well, you know, and interestingly enough... there is such high levels of 'natural' pesticides in apples that if they were produced artifically, they wouldn't be allowed to be grown!

Reply 10

can i have a link for that. surely apples would want to be eaten so that seeds get spread around?

Reply 11

I dont think apples have wants or needs, I dont think they really feel much either! Saying that who knows?

To be honest, its a matter of wether you mind eating this GM food or not, or would you prefer something that is grown strictly naturally. I try to eat organic food when I can but obviously it cant be all the time. You can taste the difference to be honest, and you know that the food you're putting into you is good for you (to an extent :P)

ALSO, if you ever wake up and find yourself in Barcelona, make sure you visit the restaurant called "Organic" surprisingly it only sells organic vegetarian and vegal dishes! Its absolutely fantastic! You can buy T-shirts there that have the store slogan, "Organic is Orgasmic" !

Reply 12

Organic food is better for you because it doesn't contain all those nasty fertiliser chemicals. Although personally I think the effect these chemicals have is negligible because it is such a small dosage.

Reply 13

Naelse's right. Pesticides are as essentially poisonous to humans as they are to the critters.

'Every little helps...' toward cancer.

Reply 15

Yeah, but even Diet Coke has cancer causing agents in it... and a lot more of them than any pesticide

I learn something new everyday, thanks for that information certainly supports my opinion!

Just found out flouride (used for toothpaste) and chlorine (found in tap water) are considered carcinogens.

Virtually anything is considered carcinogenic these days.

Reply 17

Ah... carcinogens... that was the word I was looking for!! I could only think of the French word lol...

Yeh anyway, I think a lot of Diet drinks are, coz the sweeteners they replace sugar with are carcinogens... but the only one I'm sure of is coke

Reply 18

Pesticides are very much more carcinogenic than aspartame or whatever it is in coke.

Reply 19

I wouldn't know, having a general ignorance except for what I occasionally hear about all these made up chemicals that cause things like cancer
