Turl Street Riots

I read about this incident somewhere a few weeks ago, but I can't seem to find much information about them. All i know is that they happened in the 60's (I think) and two of the turl street colleges raided the other one. I may be wrong, but if anyone else knows anything then please post. :wink:

In 1979, that Winter of Discontent, the 'Turl Street riots' between Exeter and Jesus led to several arrests, with drunken bar crawls still being the consequence of this spirit of rivalry.

Apparently the dean of Jesus -- who had gone out in order to try and discipline and control his students -- was apprehended by a policeman. "But I'm the dean!" he protested. The policeman replied "well that just makes it even more disgraceful!"
