I think arkbar proved you are fairly incapable of stringing complex sentences together, by a stroke of his delicate and ironic genius.

Q.E.D mofo!

Ah, we're all mean, sarcastic pedants round these parts. It's the northern air, we just can't help it.

After being at uni for most of first year, I have discovered the following.

Being ill + uni = crap

or moreover, being ill + uni + sharing a room = horrible!

Chris, who do you share a room with? I bet they're loving your random drunkenness every other night! lol

Apologies if this has been mentioned before (it probably has).

When does one have to apply for their accomodation at Durham? I've been accepted at Grey for 2006 entry and have replied to confirm Durham as my firm offer. I wondered when I get sent information to apply for accomodation, and when the "closing date" to send the application back is.

Also, how do they decide who is going to share a room and who is not? I hear at Grey one only shares for a term, if at all, but is it a first-come-first-serve basis?

Thanks for any help!

I think for most colleges its after the results come out and your place is confirmed.

Hope you feel better soon Chris :hugs:

Ahhh, the first in a long line of what will be this question!

What many people fail to realise is that by applying to your COLLEGE you've already applied for accomodation. Other universities around now will be sending out application forms for which tower block you want to live in () but Durham, as you've applied to the College, doesn't need to now.

You're guaranteed a room in your college, and because all colleges are such a small site (although Hild Bede is a big site, it's nowhere near the size of a city university or even a campus university!) then you don't need to apply. For example, if you're in Trevs, all the rooms are pretty much the same, and you'll live in either A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, or J block.....D being about 10 seconds away from the dining hall and J or H being about 1min and 10 seconds away from the dining hall! It's no difference really.

Finally, you WILL be sent out a questionnaire ONCE YOUR RESULTS HAVE BEEN CONFIRMED (i.e. in August!) which will ask you some basic stuff like what time you usually go to bed/get up, what kind of music you like, if you smoke, etc etc. so that if you end up sharing a room then they can put you with someone quite similar to you
