Durham General Chat Thread

Chaps and Chapettes - I went to this bar/club thing/place on my open day in Durham, but I don't remember the name of it.
Thus begins the 'Magical-Mystery-Can-You-Tell-Me-What-Place-It-Is-Game.'
Here's what I can remember:
1. It was all relatively stylish - there was a plasma screen at the lowest level, with Oldboy playing.
2. They had Woodpecker Cider.
3. There were two distinct areas: the upstairs bar/lounge, and the downstairs 'stony' bar, which was a bit less of a lounge...
4. It was pretty much in the centre of town (but then so are most places I guess)
5. Umm... it wasn't too spacious?

Well I just made a tit of myself in Waterstones. I forgot my PIN (despite using it for 2 years!) and after going back twice eventually admitted defeat. I'm gonna use Amazon in the future :redface:

I think this is proof that my mind's decaying from disuse over the holidays. Either that or the post-exam benders are finally taking their toll... :bawling:

i used to work at waterstones but didn't get kept on probably due to my lack of effort and not good enough knowledge of every bleeding book in the store :biggrin:

(not castle tho, made sure of that!).

btw person who put this (sorry can't remember who did) why would you not want to put down castle? i'm going there is fantastic :confused:

Sounds like Jimmy Allens. Did you start off at the top and work your way down? Jimmy A's is built into one of the (now hidden) arches of Elvet Bridge, and used to be a prison (where one certain James Allen was incarcerated until he died of old age, for horse stealing).

Nooooo I didn't say that! I am applying to Castle, but made sure that no-one I knew who was going to Durham was also going to Castle as I want to do my own thing for the first few weeks at uni, if that makes sense!

Don't you just hate it when you're going somewhere, and 20 minutes (maybe an hour for girls) before you need to go you think 'crap, should be getting ready now' and you get ready but it only takes 15 minutes. I'm ready to walk out the door now but it's pointless as I'll only get there 10 minutes early. The time gap's not long enough to do anything worthwhile so even after posting this I'll just potter around for a bit seemingly uneasy with my own existance.
