Very few degree subject material has any use in the real world, outside of academia. I mean, am I really going to be measuring particle energies in 3 years time? Probably not.
Would you say the bursary is enough to equalise it to the costs of a year t'Durham??
It depends, accomodation here is much, much more expensive but living costs are lower. But when you factor in flights, it works out cheaper to be in Durham.

I don't know that that is ncessarily the case in social sciences as much, a lot of the stuff I'm currently doing is directly related to planning and urban policies, which directly relates to cities and so forth.
Why do you ask about the play? I don't think it's that big of a deal, but I'm not one of those theatre-types, so I couldn't really say.
