Me too! Although I need to develop some kind of computer programming skills. I wish they had some kind of summer internship. Are you doing 3 or 4 years? x
By the time I was at the point he's at, I'd been on at least 3 full college bar crawls, and a few part-college bar crawls (i.e. just the hill, etc.)
The concept of a 'full college bar crawl' does nothing for me I'm afraid. I don't feel the need for an Alcohol-Vitae of personal achievements. I just get pissed with my mates and do crazy assed drunken ninja ****. It's all good.

Ditto for the computer stuff. I'm doing 4 years - wondering what modules would be good to pick for a career as a mathmo with them, or if picking them that way is even a good idea!
edit: from their website
What you'll need
* A strong interest in problem solving * An aptitude for computer programming * Plenty of coffee
eek. I better not mention that I hate coffee in an interview.
My clocks are all between one and five minutes fast so that I am less likely to be late. Sadly, I always think I remember how fast they are, so I'll think, "oh, this is five minutes fast, I have time." Then I'll realise it's only one minute fast. Then I'm half an hour late. Oops.
I am going to be a leech. Easy and rewarding.
I have been to Trev's (multiple choice exam for a voluntary "study"), Collingwood (pool match), Mary's (DSU), Butler (DSU) and...uh...I think that's it. Not bad though given that none of those things involved drinking!
Due to new Geography department regulations, for which assignments are no longer word-length but instead are page length....mine needs to be 5 pages of A4, 2cm margins each side, size 12 Arial font, 1.5 line spacing.
Equates to about 2,000-2,200 words.
Though that's the easy part. At the moment, I have NO IDEA how I'm going about this essay. It's a tricky one!!!....
Critically examine the claim that "Africa [is] a continent already imprinted with its own peculiar photographic iconography" (M. Watts and I. Boal, 1995: 105) .....with both theoretical and empirical evidence
They're page length now? That's a pile of crap. And that essay is filth. Edit: In addition, my body now thinks it's a very good idea to have me crash out at 10pm and wake up at 5am, with no chanc of getting back to sleep. ****ing jet lag.

It's understandable to be honest, page length is easier for them to enforce - and for people like me who always strictly keeps under the word limit it was annoying to hear people were writing like 500-1000 words more and getting away with it (grrr!)
I didn't like the sound of it originally, but it makes planning essays MUCH nicer! Before it was like "OK 300 word on introduction, this many on the body, that many on the conclusion"....but now I can set out 5 pages on word, set out a section for intro, then for main sections, then for conclusion....and aim for the end of the section. I generally do 1 page intro, 3 page body, 1 page conclusion....worked well so far! (Extra pages for references are allowed)
I do honestly think it's a better method. Dissertation length is no longer 10,000 words but now 35 pages (plus an allowance of 20 pages for references and appendix)....I've worked out that if you do an essay with few images this is massively in excess of 10,000 words - but for mine which will have a lot of photos in it should be nicely under 10,000! Again, I've already set out 35 pages with the assigned sections for it.
Originally I thought this was a crap change, but I've come to love it!

I've heard about this from my friend Kate, she's not a fan... Mine is 3000 words, but I like my title.
“In short, this happy country has been Anglicized completely It really is surprising What a thorough Anglicizing We have brought about!” (W.S. Gilbert, Utopia Limited) How does fin-de-siècle fiction establish national characteristics?
I'm doing it on The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Trilby by George du Maurier and Plain Tales from the Hills by Rudyard Kipling. Imperialism and turn-of-the-century confidence (or lack of) here I come!
See, I actually want to write it. I think I'll enjoy it. But my procrastinating has now become so bad I actually can't make myself, even though this term will be hell if I don't get it done before I go back. Damn dissertations. No, I will get this essay done, I will!
Yesterday! Far too soon I know, but I needed the time to revise. Also everyone was back at work too(family and boyfriend that is) so I didn't necessarily want to get bored too easily.
I did however have a great time up in Durham(was there from Wednesday til Saturday last week), and although I didn't manage to get a pint of Black Sheep in the Dun Cow as Ali advised I did manage to have a pint in both the Elm Tree and the Woodman. I also, had a tasty and cheap curry in the Rajpooth.
There was no quiz last Wednesday in the Elm Tree though.
