Is it true that Nicola Heaton is actually really competent and able? I think Matt told me this, but it didn't really come across that way in her Treasurer hust (or her Women's hust, or her NUS hust).
I have yet to vote mainly because I'm split between the two Presidential candidates both look excellent that's the problem, and both mention things that I think are important....
I think there's a rule about a certain number of meetings you have to attend to be able to stand for treasurer, but no one knew about it, so only one of the people who wanted to stand could do so!

Well, you got my email hopefully I'm pretty sure it's against the rules for me to campaign on here though.
The RON campaign for treasurer will probably mean they'll have to call off that election. Argh.
So any time anyone sends a mass email from an anonymous account(unless they were stupid, they'd have used a PC outside the Durham network and not at their home) they call off the election?

They're not calling it off (are they?)....they were just asking people to RON the candidate, which is perfectly acceptable.
I'm not saying "Yeah good RON them"....but the e-mail did suggest things that the majority of voters won't have known.
I don't see why they shouldn't use a Durham PC or their home PC, they did nothing wrong. They didn't abuse any Durham mailing lists, but rather it seems they put their own together.
The same thing happened last year with the EWO election, I believe.
Yes I do remember this!
And as much as it may be "controversial" I do support their actions. I think that many people who vote in the DSU elections will not have heard the hustings or done any "in depth" research into their policies if elected. Most people, including me, look at the "mini manifesto" which is on the voting page....OR vote for people you know.
The only improvement I could think of is that they sent out an e-mail with "negatives" on EVERY candidate for each position, that way we see all of the negatives and can have a "balanced" opinion
I think so, there is also a Facebook group for "Emma for EWO" (I'm a member!) ....so I guess it's allowed!
I'm sure that DSU elections are far different and as such poster campaigns and all this kinda stuff is allowed, unlike most college elections whereby those things aren't allowed
I would just like to say that if I were choosing which uni to go on based on their respective TSR sub-forums (not that I am or anything ), Durham would win hands down!
