At Trevs freshers reps are now selected through anonymous screened applications followed by interviews with a panel - I got in this year, hence I fully support this change

boat clubs and football teams can entirely sway the vote.

This is why I don't bother with college elections anymore. The boat club basically runs the JCR
I'm finally home.

I can have a cup of tea with real milk and lie on the settee reading the newspaper and watching Neighbours.

Me too 'n that. I don't like Neighbours though.

Neighbours > Eastenders.

Though that doesn't explain why I was discussing "Who Shot Phil Mitchell?" earlier this evening.
Reply 6425
Even though I watch neither, Eastenders is better.
Ah, Judith and Ali, are you enjoying being back? I'm loving it!

At the moment apart from being able to talk to Tom every night on the phone and see my Mum and brother every single day, not so far.

Yesterday I had a migraine that lasted all day and it's still with me, and I've still got to go out and job hunt.

*Perhaps this thread should be renamed the Moaning thread for me today*.

It's alright, jet lag has seen me wake up at 6am every day for the past 4 days though (which is stupid,as it should be going the other way around) and I really need to get some dissertation work done.
I will, however, be a lot happier when 1.I go down the pub for the first time (tonight) and 2. See the gf again (tomorrow).

Seeing other halves is the best. Had the June Ball on Tuesday, and it was great despite a water main bursting in the afternoon and flooding the entire bar and JCR!

At our ball the floor caved in in front of the stage and Supergrass were unable to play their encore

What are the balls generally like at Durham? Aside from burst-water-mains galore, that is. Are they along the lines of like, high school/college balls/proms where everyone wears ballgowns/Really Nice Dresses/tuxes, or more informal?

I still use folders.

Balls at Durham: generally waaaaaay better than end of school things, loads more things going on etc. I can't really say for other colleges balls apart from Castle's though.

Well no, you have grammar and translation classes that are taught in small groups, so that's a bit like A2, and you do homeworks for them, but you are expected to do a lot more on your own than at A2.
At the mo I'm doing French and Italian.
