I got my pack too, along with about 5 other letters from Durham.
They changed my 29.3 week let to a 33.3 week let so I'll be having words later on today. There are so many forms to fill in!

Omfgonabike I'm 21:biggrin:

Still coming for an Ale Ali? Peggage tonight!!

Me too:frown:So old:frown:

Speaking of cats(there was a cat discussion a few pages back)...we have a cat around our neighbourhood in Durham(around Hawthorn Terrace area)...it's called Domino and it is very very friendly. One night it was sat opposite our house,I knocked on the window and it came running over, walked straight into our house.Cheeky thing.I gave it a bowl of tuna.

Aww all this talk of 'welcome packs' and excitement reminds me of when I was a cute, naive fresher, just one year ago!
I went for the 33.3 week so I can be flexible and I don't have hassle of packing up my stuff each term. (It's a 4-5 hour train journey, and I'm lucky to of persuaded mum to drive me up for the start)
But yeah I'd be trying to get the cost down to 29.3 weeks for it if I were you.

The welcome pack is full of stuff, just working through it now and sorting into piles of varying amounts of action required. I'm sure I'll forget which pile is which.
I sorted into two piles. "Stuff which has to be filled in right bleeding now on pain of a grisly end" and "Everything else". I'll get around to the second pile... sometime.
**** bastard. I haven't done my student loan forms yet.
I haven't recieved anything from them yet :s-smilie:
That wasn't what I meant. To be in such uncertainty would be a luxury!!

But isn't that like, an extra £700 or something!?

Surely packing and couriering your stuff up and down is cheaper than this! Hell, a taxi is probably cheaper!

Mildert's lockboxes FTW

It's £170 because we only get to keep the room and are not catered for.
Maybe I was thinking more on the flexible, I might stay up in Durham for some of the holiday and make my trips home shorter.

Hey when I was going to be going up by train I did wonder about looking into a courier for all my stuff!

I went up by train in first year with all my stuff, and I'm going up this year by train with all my stuff (even though I'm living out), BRING IT.

LastGrape: Do you know which house you're staying in?
If I'm doing 33.3 weeks then we might both be in house 27 north bailey.
If you don't know ring up cuth's and find out!
I think the postman is getting a bit fed up of delivering huge packages of books to my house. Every time I finish one another three show up to replace it. D:
What do you do when you get to the other end Alistair, walk with your epically size suitcase?

And you must have to limit what you're taking quite a lot to be able to manage it by train?

Maybe I could join you, if I'm feeling stupid and you can convince me it's doable! It's a mini adventure.

Anyone know why Hopping got banned?

I'm in Brooks House, over on Parsons Field. (I think where most self caterrers are)

Your only going to be down the road from the main cuths bar & stuff but I'm on the other site and the only place in Durham I didn't walk by (I even trekked up to a hill college). Ohwell, I'll soon know it well enough.

Ah ok, was self catered your first choice?

Don't worry about feeling isolated in Parson's Field - it's in a lovely spot, right next to the massive Racecourse fields, the river and halfway between the Science Site and the town centre. You're still near all the action :p:
yeah and what I really wanted. Challenge of learning an important skill. If I eat out or don't eat till 11pm(likely if I'm intesly doing work) it would seem bad that I've just waste £x of the catering I paid for.

Not too worried about isolation, it doesn't look far on the map and looks nice and greeny round there.
I also like the idea of being in a group of houses or however it's done, so it's like halls rather than random buildings in the same road.
