I have two essays due tomorrow and have only just started the first. This may perhaps be a procrastination too far.

oh. my. god.

That was SO bad :indiff:
What happened?

Completely went off at wrong point of lecture! :frown:
Ahahahahaha, just in the middle of it instead of at the end?

Tell us more!

:sadnod: I got the whole thing recorded on my camera phone I think (if not, its definately recorded on the dictaphone)

crap :frown:

I wouldn't care, but now I've got an intimate tutorial with the same lecturer (4 students and him)

*gulp*

God help me.
Amazing.

Maybe he'll just laugh merrily and reminisce about his own wacky student days. Or you could buy a mask and see if he notices it's you.

A lot of peeps are blanking me now.

They're mean at the law dept :frown:

When 9am lectures get cancelled I can never work out whether I'm pleased or not. On the plus side I can go back to bed, on the other hand, I woke up for no reason whatsoever. Still...

and nice pics tufts.

You're kidding right?

cancelled lectures FTMFW!

I'm going on the Bamburgh dig
This means that I'll be camping in during July instead of being bussed out every morning at 8.30 during the last 3 weeks of term like the other poor Archaeology students...

Cheers for that. I was almost certainly looking at doing Maths Physics, probably Codes and something else. The idea would be to keep my options open, so I will have to see the progressian plan for it all.

There is no flow chart or anything for maths, which is a little annoying, you have to go to the information page for each individual module and check the prerequisites. I've looked at 3rd year modules so often, I can tell you what not taking various options will exclude in the 3rd year:

If you don't take Algebra and Number Theory you can't do:
Algebraic Geometry

Galois Theory

Geometry

Number Theory

Representation Theory and Modules
If you don't take Mathematical Physics you can't do:
Electromagnetism

General Relativity

Quantum Mechanics
If you don't take Statistical Methods you can't do:
Bayesian Methods

Bayesian Statistics

Statistical Methods
If you don't take Complex Analysis (as in you do Contours & Actuarial instead) you can't do:
Analysis

Elliptic Functions
If you don't take Probability (P&AM or P&GT) you can't do:
Probability

Stochastic Methods
If you don't take Numerical Analysis you can't do:
Approximation Theory and Solutions of ODEs
Ouch, looks like I am going to have to think a bit more about my modules. Cheers for that
I didn't think about it when I originally chose my modules and in retrospect I wish I'd done Algebra and Number Theory (to open up more modules for third year) instead of Prob & Geometric. I was really interested in probability at the time having enjoyed the first year course, but it turned out 2nd year probability (which the exception of the 2nd of 4 chapters) was really really difficult. Lots of revision required...

Ergh... modules... not a happy *River...
Modules? Are they asking you about next year or something already?

They'll publish what's available this week some time, we've got to pick by the end of the holidays (so ages away). I've been looking at least year's ones (they don't change that much year on year, just that some won't be available if people are on research leave or whatever), and there are the usual annoying restrictions (I hate medieval history...), and the mini-dissertation module which I want to do doesn't guarantee that you'll get a group doing a period that you're actually interested in. If I get my first choices I'll be ok, but I was really keen on the mini-dissertation module until I found out that you can't put all Late Modern ones as your choices (have to put 3 in order of preference, one must be Medieval, one Early Modern and one Late Modern). Anyway... back to the essay...

Hmm, could you not get a concession if there is something that you really want to do, possibly go as far as switching courses if needs be (e.g onto combined honours). Most of the module restrictions tend not to be as set in stone as they like to make it appear. Good luck with trying to get that essay done, that reminds me, I also should be doing some form of work (I slept through the entire day somehow, might be something to do with last night)

Most of these only run every other year.

Elliptic functions, Approx theory and Number theory will be next year.

Rep theory is this year and therefore in two years time.

This is the only stuff I know about as the rest is lame dynamics and statistics.

edit: Oh, and I read you do Geometric Topology. It was a new course last year and thus had the easiest exam in the world.
