Hmm, could you not get a concession if there is something that you really want to do, possibly go as far as switching courses if needs be (e.g onto combined honours). Most of the module restrictions tend not to be as set in stone as they like to make it appear. Good luck with trying to get that essay done, that reminds me, I also should be doing some form of work (I slept through the entire day somehow, might be something to do with last night)
Do you know who we're supposed to contact if we want to enquire as to whether this is possible?

Hmm, it depends what you want to change to. I would guess your Dept's TA would know, if they start playing silly beggars then there will be some deputy dean within your faculty allocated to this. Though I am not sure exactly how flexible they will be. Is there a staff member in history that you really get on with, out of the lot they probably are the best ones to begin talking to, if you expect opposition.
Well, I did manage to finish today's first one by 5:30pm, but my brain is now completely shot, so there is no way the other one is getting finished tonight, especially as I do not have any books out from the library for it. I think I'll have to do some feeble brainstorming tonight, then go to the library at about 8 in the morning tomorrow, check out anything I can find (nothing, as everyone else has already gotten everything useful) and then BS frantically with a brief pause for toast midday. If I can finish it by 4:20pm I will have time to print them off and walk down to the department.

I suspect there is a lesson to be learned here...
Meh, just quote the dictionary a few times. Have you tried searching scholary articles, like PhD thesis' etc...
And you never learn the lesson do you . Having said that I am no better, if i figure I cant get a formative done at my leisure, then it does not get done...

Yeah, my flatmates has suggested I dig into the e-journals, so I think I will have to do that. I've never flat-out failed to get a formative turned in before so I'm not sure what will happen if it doesn't get in on time, but knowing the English department it will probably involve hanging, drawing and/or quartering.

I don't mean to encourage this... but I know somebody doing English who didn't hand in a formative essay last term and nothing's happened to them. At the end of the day, you live and learn , so you can't do anything more than your best. Good luck.
I never thought I'd say this, but this essay is going to be too long...
You are probably all already aware, but googlescholar comes in handy for last minute essaying when you can't get any real books - there's loads of books you can view online.
Does anyone know of any second or third year modules (any subject) that are easy and don't have prerequisites? I need a contingency plan if I don't get the special topics I want because there isn't really anything else I want to do, and I'd like something that will bring up my average to make up for the fact that I took Orchestration this year which will bring it DOOOOWN.

Nah, you will get away with it easy, I have not handed in a single formative this term

Philosophy dept will let you in most second year modules with "appropraite evidence". You would have to ask a philosopher though how easy they are...

Most Theology modules have no prerequisites... as for being easy, I don't know about third year modules but I've not found Religion in Contemporary Britain too difficult, and it's really interesting and well taught.
