Yeah bad colour schemes

I will try to improve it, but it's hard as it has to be under 100kb to upload onto TSR. Grrr :frown:

My tutor is a postgrad living in the viaduct. He said it takes 10 mins to get from the viaduct to the science site. True or false? I was under the impression that it takes longer than that.

Lol, Winney Hill isnt that hilley, I live at the end of it, yes, next to the prison! And it only takes me 10 minutes max to get to my lectures at the science site

Whinney Hill isn't actually all that expensive from what I've heard. Decent houses too.

Thing is is that there aren't many houses at all, most of them are locals too, a limited number of students there! Great area if you can manage to get a house though

Sidegate - also not many houses, quite far away actually and wouldn't be nice to walk to on your own in the dark at all!! It's got a lot of foreign postgrads housed up there.

Claypath - very much a hill, but nowhere near as bad as Gilesgate lol. Nice area, good houses, very expensive!

And finally, it's not as bad being the only scientist - worse the other way around (trust me!)

wow, obv a good idea to ask you then, you know everything!!!
hmmm perhaps not sidegate then! and maybe not claypath either, i thought that was meant to be quite cheap?!
will we be able to get anything 5 bedrooms for £1200 a month?
i guess you have to pay for them over holidays and stuff too?!!

5 bedrooms, £60/person/week, I'm pretty sure that's possible! Most likely in Gilesgate, also look at Nevilles Cross. Langley Moor if you really want but I think that's a worse trek than Gilesgate as it's so far from the town centre for after a night out!!

And yeah you have to pay over holidays unless you get a 9-month contract.

Kevin's tip (lol) : If you can convince your friends, don't sign any contract until like March. Look on the DSU Housing website then...BECAUSE the international postgrad students don't leave Durham until September, this means that their landlords don't advertise their houses until a little later than everyone else. These houses are most likely going to be 9-month contracts (October - June) which is perfect!

My house is a 9-month contract, and at £48/week, I'm so good for money!

wooaaahh thats good!!
yeah i don't think they'd want to hang on that long just in case!! would save a hell of a lot though! (wahoo, more alcohol money!)

i thought gilesgate was pretty far though? some second years cant actually be arsed to go back to gilesgate after coming to college so sleep in the jcr or in peoples rooms! don't want more than a 20 minute or so walk to the science site considering will have to get up cardiac hill too in my zombic-like state!

thank you for your help btw!!

Depends where you get!

If you get right on Gilesgate hill then you're looking at 25min walk to the Science Site, easily. Make it in 20mins at a fast pace

I'd say look at Nevilles Cross and Viaduct first, then if nothing there have a look at Claypath, £60 could be possible if you're lucky. If nothing there then Gilesgate may have to be the place to be. Just think, getting up 10mins earlier each morning - it's worth the extra money isn't it?
