Bowland North

Hey! i got my accommodation through today. My first choice was lonsdale and then cartmel, but i guess i shouldnt be disappointed i didnt get either as lancaster was my insurance. anyway, ive ended up in bowland north in bowlnad college, it says room D226 does anyone have any idea about where i am and what its like??? I really wanted to be in an en-suite room too, but i just have a standard room. I put the en-suite room as the most important factor when applying for somewhere, so wondered if anyone knew if it was possible to swap??? thankyou!! xx

It may be possible to swap after the first few weeks when people drop out of uni. Bowland North is what used to be Lonsdale college. I had a friend in those rooms and they were ok. Some of the rooms are above teaching space, im not sure how big the rooms are as my friend had a double room with the other person having moved out. She shared the corridor with quite a lot of people though.

I'm not but my friend is. She wanted to be in Cartmel too but Bowland was her insurance. She didn't get ensuite either but she's not too gutted, the rent is cheaper so she's looking forward to spending the rest in the bars, haha.

hi im also in Bowland North but put cartmel as my first choice and en-suite as my priority. bathroom(s) and kitchen are shared with 22 people apparently but the rooms are supposed to be quite big (i also heard the walls are salmon pink brick - nice)...

I was gutted when i found out i'm in bowland tower, the only rooms on campus with no wash basin. my uncle lived there when HE was at lancaster and that was many moons ago!
i was really annoyed on the phone with them, positive that i'd stated i required a wash basin, at least, and they told me i hadn't written it anywhere, which i suppose was nobodys fault but my own. i demanded i be relocated, but they told me to try and stick it out for a few weeks. i'm in furness college, i'm in one of the bigger rooms, on a floor with only 5 other girls (i'd never requested i be in a single sex area, but when i think about rushing around the get showered & dressed in the morning, it makes sense), sharing 2 toilets and two showers. i've also been told i've got a really good view. so if i look on the bright side, i've done ok.

I've been put in Furness College, Bowland. Is this this bowland tower or would it actually say Bowland Tower? I have an ensuite room so can I assume that this isn't the bowland tower since you are saying they have no wash basins in the rooms?

Bowland tower hehe (ok it belongs to Furness now) ive never been up there but ive been told that the kitchens are small but on the plus side you may get a balcony and the view on a clear day is supposed to be nice. Im sure you will get used to it, and your at an advantage as its right on Alex square.

yeah thats what i thought although im in c237 so it might be different where you are - you could e-mail the bowland accomodation officer through the bowland web pages to ask for details which is what i did. also the bigger kitchens seem to be quite popular (although not so sure about showers)!!
You will get a cleaner 5 times a week who will clean the showers/toilet/kitchen so its not too bad
Anyone in Bowland Hall?
