they say it only takes 15mins to reach the main campus by bike, but buses and tubes take 35 minutes. So it is the quickest way,so it might be the best option if the weather is not too bed! Although walking is also nice.

Did anyone live there before, and wut do u think?

I am staying there. I think it is new for 2005-06, which might explain the astronomical price. For me it seems just a bit too far from the main campus to be paying so much, seeing as you will have to spend a bomb on public transport. I will try to walk and cycle as much as possible, but it does not have any bike racks (I think), and cycling and walking in the rain in January is not too appealing. Still, it looks a nice place.

I definitely agreed with you! Probably walking is the safest and best way.
Orient House is new for the College, but isnt it a new building???

Well I went down to have a look at it as I live in London and was bored, it was modern but it might not have been brand new. It is in a new complex, but it cannot be more than a few years old. It had nothing on it to show that it was a hall of residence, just a little plaque saying "Orient house" by the door. The problem is that it overlooks a gasworks, and it is about a 15 minute walk to shops, pubs etc.

I'm gonna be stuck in Orient House too. Was thinking about getting a fold-up bike. If it's too wet, shove it in your bag and get on the bus, think the 14 and the 11 go fairly near and go on to South Kensington. Plus with a fold-up you don't need bike racks, you can shove it under your bed...

That is a good idea, even though I spent £200 on a new bike, assuming that I would be able to use it. Oh well..... At least the hall looks nice. Piss up round my place sometime.....

£200! You can get an Apollo fold-up for £100 from Halfords. It don't 'alf look silly though.

Yeah it does a bit. Part of the problem is that cycling in London is horrible and dangerous - its not as though the route to the college is through kensington gardens like one of the other halls is. You either have to ride on the pavement and get abuse, or ride in the road and get pressured in by lorries and busses. And you get soaked in winter.

I've heard cycling in London with all the fumes completely cancels out any health gains you get from it. Tempting, eh?
