Durham poker society?

Just wondering if there is any poker or card game society? I wouldn't mind trying to get something started if there isn't one already.

I spent some time in the casino on holiday there and it was damn good fun. Not that you have to play for money to have fun of course, but a say a fiver or so on a game isn't too bad for an evening of entertainment. Now.. to get back to texas hold 'em on partypoker.com  (play money of course!)

There is a pokersoc, my roomate is an active member, ( ) as well as him being amazing at poker and regularlly winning the uni tournament. They have tournents weekly where you pay something like £2 to enter and then have prizes for the top 3 winners, top prize usually bout £40

Awesome.

Well they seem to do it so you don't loose much. They'll be at the freshers fair
I played the pokersoc tournaments quite regularly last year. They ran a £3 buy in tournament most weeks with the occasional special comp (inta-college team competition for example).

As Cobra says they will be at the freshers fair

Hold'em is prob my favourite. Im in collingwood and am always up for a round of poker, stud or whatever, but I dont want to gamble my student loan just yet:smile: Maybe we can all get together for a game sometime. And TKR, I could have you playing hold'em in 10 minutes, but its easier to show with cards, yknow!?

I'd not played texas hold'em before uni but it's really easy to pick up, I'd only played 5 card stud before
I only know Texas Hold'em. What's 5-card stud?
