Law/Medicine.... Which is regarded as a better profession?

Hey, just wanted your opinions on what profession (Law or Medicine) is regarded as better or having more authority over the other?
Whilst studying Law at A2, i found that they compete all the time without knowing, through statute, common law etc.

Most people have told me Medicine? Come on you Law reps, fightback!

Medicine is definitely the better profession. Doctors make people better, lawyers just screw people !

Medicine. Doesn't matter that there's an overlap; lawyers aren't saving lives are they? :p:

Medicine. Doctors always help people in their job, even if they don't want to. Lawyers can screw their clients over, extremely overcharge them and sometimes not even really help them, and when some people hear lawyer they automatically think conman too. In medicine lives are saved, and these lives are not saved by lawyers. Doctors deal with life and death, the most serious thing of all, which is another reason why medicine is better regarded than law.

Both are well regarded, though in terms of common people, Medicine is better as doctors (for the most part) are there for the greater good, whilst lawyers have a reputation for screwing people over for profit.

which is why i want to be a lawyer. lolz.

Haha i see your point  thats a worthy anaylsis i suppose...
The law subjects doctors to a number of constraints though? showing a higher degree of authority in terms of profession? not my own opinion just a suggestion.. what do you think..? :yep:
Both have lots of new people taking it each year so it's less and less prestigious as time passes.
HotCoco.

Use your common sense?
The word "Better" can be interpreted in many ways but usually they tend to be the same or in accordance with eachother... what i mean is, what profession has a "better" reputation among "normal" people i.e. the mass population who view both these professions as highly contributory

What one is more influential, what profession is cooler? :yep:

I see medicine as a more noble profession.

Cool, reasons for this? or just because you do..?
Neither has authority over the other, we live in a democracy.

In terms of most highly regarded by the public then medicine for the reasons above.

Perhaps someone like a human rights lawyer might be an exception.

Good ideas, just like to highlight a fact, lawyers are American, in England... the terms "Solicitors/Barristers" are much more appropriate.

medicine obviously
Not all lawyers are bad - has no one read To Kill A Mockingbird, or heard of Clarence Darrow?

On a similar note, not all doctors are good; you get some rotten apples.

But on the whole, Law is better for the mega dollarz, whereas Medicine is better for the warm, fuzzy feeling inside that you've saved a life. :awesome:
