No, you're not my friend and never would be.

It is stupid. Categorically.

If you took the time to look at my profile, you would see I am a qualified solicitor, and I pursued my career at a Magic Circle firm until I resigned to start a Medical degree. Now who's the chump?

A bit off-topic, but can I ask what made you resign from an MC firm and follow the medical route?

A man who is good with his words, or a man who is good with his hands?

I know who I'd pick. :perv:

But in all seriousness, lawyers seem to have more authority in society than medics (generalising, of course), but I'd say that medics are more important than any lawyer.
Good question though :holmes:. I shall be thinking more about this question later on...

Well anyone can be a lawyer. You can even represent yourself. You can't do surgery on yourself, it's illegal. You get arrested. Then you get a free lawyer...

Haha, thats a good approach
I do think medicine as a profession is amazing, the people within it do a great job, but im going into Law.. the profession whereby your reputation as an individual is massively important.. i agree that some solicitors may over-charge aka con their clients but if you're good enough as a Solicitor/Barrister then why not? as "alot" is usually at stake :yep:

It is isn't it  ?

Personally i think Doctors have it if i'm honest (sorry) they do save lives in the end of it, Lawyers also do in some cases (execution appeals and human rights cases) but i think overall doctors have a more immediate and gratifying effect on the people they come into contact with.

Hopefully no TSR lawyers will spit on me because of this though :frown:

No, you get death threats instead :p:

@OP: who cares which one is more reputable, I sure hope you didn't go into law for the sole reason of prestige

I love death threats , they're ma fave

And yeah OP :hmmm: think about the money instead.

HotCoco.
Define what you mean by "better".

Better as in 'an adjective to describe a doctor, when compared to a lawyer'
Glad I could clear that up for you

Medicine.

Considering the number of scrotes that walk free after committing horrendous crimes (i.e. dem chavz), I would say the field of law isn't particularly reputable...

the bf is an Imperial Medic, so on that basis alone, I'm going to say medicine :awesome:

Lol at all the "Doctors help people, lawyers screw people."

Ever heard of Doctor Crippen? All the people murdered by doctors?

Law, obviously.
/thread (although a doctor wife would be nice  )

medicine, because law can get dirty. if your gonna do that then dont go into the dark side. become a solicitor.

Soliciting is the dark side!
Barristers ftw :colonhash:

Reply 93

Most lawyers see doctors, not all doctors need lawyers

Reply 94

Medicine obviously, why do you think they let you represent yourself in court cases? Because anyone can be a lawyer, but you can't perform surgery on yourself, then you'd need a lawyer.

Reply 95

think about it like this, which is the or seen as the older profession, which does humanity need more of, how many times do we read about poor countries and how their development is often measured by people per doctor. Medicine and Law, two very important institution's needed for a typical society to function but in an ideal society which we all aim for, which should there be more of?

Reply 96

what about teachers then? arguably more important than both, you need teachers to actually make doctors and lawyers in the first place obviously

Not to deplete teachers in any way, but i would say that throughout my own personal academic experiences, all i'd need is for someone to hand me the material that is needed in order to revise, then i'd still of passed my Gcse's and As and hopefully my A-level exams next week.. the internet is an amazing thing for exam structure tips etc.. :yep:

Oh thankyou, but apparently its a retarded question? in the view of some weirdo a few pages beforehand in this thread, big debate/argument haha :yep: starting blabbering on about how he worked for a magic circle law firm asif that had any relevance to his opinion of this debate being worthless..
