i didnt know such things existed! i'd love to find one! seems ideal. im from essex, but i often am in london. can you recommend a good one?

what is the name for a mixed salon? so i can google for a local one

yeaaahh they do!
My old one is called Dynamics hair salon- 301 Caledonian Road, London N1 DT020 7700 2244
quite decent on pricing for things like weaves/ tracks plus i dont think they charge more for hair type

though if you google search afro european hair salon in X (being the place you lwant) there are plenty around!

you do?

No, you don't. That person doesn't know what they're talking about.

I usually see all races in Afro barber shops just because Black barbers seem to be able to cut very stylishly.

NOT the other way around.

certainly black dudes go in the western hair salon, and black girls with silky or curly hair go there too, like regis etc. but nver do any whites go in the african salon

SHUT up. Why just make things up? The Black people that I see in European hair salons actually work there as hair dressers.

I know of one White gay hairdresser that worked in a Black womens' salon.

Facts. Right. Please.

yea i know it should cost more, but one place is charging me £40 the next is charging me £80 for the same thing, i think im being ripped off bu the £80 dudes because im not black and they think i wont know.

do you have any idea how much 3 weave tracks on silky hair should cost?

can i learn to do it myself? do africans ever do their own weaves?

and why are african hair salons so oppressive toward non-black people? im latina, and my ex was part albino nigerian (blond yaki hair, green eyes and light skin) and he walked into an african hair salon, everyone stopped and stared at him until he started talking in their language.

you often see black dudes and gals in western hir salons, but never the other way round. why?

Has it not occurred to you that different salons do charge different prices for the same thing?

thats not true. I do not know ONE black guy who has ever gone to a western barbers for a hair cut. Even people I know who go to uni in predominately white areas of the country travel to get their hair cut at black barbers. I actually see a lot of white guys come into my barbers for trims and they are never opressed

well obviously so, but two salons less than 1 mile apart, pretty much the same in all other respects...i doubt one could get away with consistantly charging twice as much as the other

Why would you want horse hair attached to your hair then pay for it :s-smilie: beyond me

well you dont know any black guys that go to white salons, i dont know any white guys that go the black salons.

that doesnt mean my statement is false and yours is true, or vice versa.

some people are so ignorant and illogical

EDIT: actually come to think of it, i live in a mainly white are where there ARE no black barbers, which would explain why the black guys go to the white hair salons

I think that they are ripping you off for 3 tracks.
Do you have any black friends that can do it for you?
I know people who get their whole hair done for £60 so £45 for 3 tracks is just silly

yea i know, the place i go to will do full head for £50, but they charge extra to do silky hair as it takes longer
Ayostunner
Well salon in general rips people off if you're black or not :colondollar:
i never go them .
Tbh the reason the cost of your weave is higher is because of the texture of your hair.
Its harder to hold and plait so that the weave can stay in longer hence the higher cost .

I laugh at your weave ayo :bird:
i walked into a black hairdressing shop once, didn't realise it was for african hair until i saw the products. i looked up and everyone was staring at me, so i got embarrassed and walked out...

you see, if a black person walked into a white hair salon, that probably wouldnt happen. they might not be able to help them, but the whole salon wouldn just stop and stare like the black hair salons do. why the racism to white epopel

Most probably down to it being a bit of an unexpected sight. It's not exactly the first port of call to care for non-'black' hair.
It's nothing to get so worked up over :dontknow:
Go to afro euro opposite post office and directly out side marcket entrance they are brilliant and will be friendly and will put in 4 lines for £40
The going rate is usually 10 quid per doubled row, a full head should be about 50 but if you look around you'll find cheaper, my hairdresser charges 30 for as many rows as I want, it's ahura in leeds City centre next to the market if that's any use to you
40 is expensive!
Firstly, finding a salon that cut afro hair is not easy. Once you find it you are confused to decide whether it will suit you the best or it will charge you more because you are not black. All your problems and confusions can be sorted out by black barber review (which is one of its types for afro- Caribbean communities). It is an online platform where you can check barbers specialisation, price and feedback by other customers. So do try it. It may help you find a good professional barber which suits your need.
Well my weave costs me £180 so I definitely must be getting ripped off
