I think its best to carry on, although i've only had four official lessons, lots of time out with the parents mind you

I had a 10 month break from lessons, mainly due to frustrations as well, but I kinda wish I hadn't now because I only feel like I'm behind now when I might have passed ages ago :nothing:. Sorry to be negative, that's just my truthful experience though. Other people may have better stories for you :o:

If you break your routine of learning, you'll end up having to take more lessons later on to catch up.

The most economical way to learn is to do so intensively without interruptions.

I took a break from driving  I didn't find it hard starting up again. It just came naturally, I wouldn't worry about it. Since it's because of money and frustration, why not stop a bit and pick it up again when you are ready? Being frustrated surely won't help things.

Reply 5

Why are you frustrated?

Reply 6

my sister took a break, and that was 3 years ago.. she still hasnt taken her test

Reply 7

I've taken 2 breaks.
1 because I ran out of money and the second cause of exams.
Cause I practised in my mum's car during these breaks, it wasn't too bad getting back into it. Just needed to practice the manouevers

don't give up!

I wanted to take a break because I hated lessons but I just kept going and I grew up to be Lewis Hamilton himself.

Anyone else here done that for a bit....then resumed lessons later on?

I have....ive had around 23 lessons so far....but due to money/Frustrations of having lessons sometimes i just stopped.

If so what was it like for you carrying on with lessons?...and is it generaly a good idea to stop for a bit?

Did exactly the same. But just got insured yesterday so shall begin lessons again ASAP. I wouldn't realy recommend it; just get it out of the way. I haven't done my theory yet so I shall struggle to pass before University

I did, wish I hadn't to be honest.
Started them again now and i'm nearly ready for my actual test.

Don't take a brake it isn't worth it. I did and now 3 years later I am retaking my theory test as it expired and have to start from scratch again. When I first started I had a useless instructor and after like 10 lessons I still wasn't sure when to change gears so it was a long process for me. I also now have a slight phobia of driving so I suggest carrying on.

I took about a month and a half off because I couldn't afford lessons for a while! Didn't have a huge amount of trouble getting back into it.

I had a break for about a month and a half, holidays didn't pan out well for both me and my driving instructor. But came back and though I'd had no practice in that time I could suddenly drive. So in some cases it can help

Best to just get it over and done with really. Driving is so easy and convenient once you have got through the test.

Hey.. I took 9 months out from my 1st test last November and still passed with only 8 hours (including lesson before test - this August!) back in the car! Best thing I've ever done haha  but maybe I got lucky.. Although, with manouvering its probably best to carry on doing lessons consitently.. Like 1 hour a week? 9 months without doing any reversing around corners was a nightmare!

Reply 17

I stopped for a bit during my lessons... Probably a couple of months and after my first lesson back i was fine! Passed first time too.

Don't be a wuss! Wusses never prevail! Tough it out!

I was in a similar position actually, I'd had 15 or so lessons and then took a 3 month break for revision and exams. Whilst it only took a couple of lessons to get used to it again, I reget doing so as I could have passed by now. I would say that if you are capable to drive without prompting, it wouldn't be the end of the world if you stopped lessons for a while but practiced a couple of times a week with your parents.

Hope this helps
