Ear plugs

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get some really good earplugs from? I'm going to gig on friday and want something that will protect me from the loud music as last time my ears rung for months on end and still do to an extent. :frown: I do not want that again so I would like to know where I can get some quality earplugs from. I've already looked on google and it's brought up some good sites, but I doubt they'll get here on time so anyone know any stores I can buy from? Thanks in advance.

Why are you going if you're just going to use ear plugs and not listen?

:ditto: however, you can go to any sports and leisure centres and they will do those gel ones that mould into your ear shape, check out some swimming pools, they do fantastic ones.

Hope this helps

They don't cut out the sound completely, they reduce it to a safe level.

Head down to B&Q etc, or if you have a parent/relation who works in a manual job they should be able to 'borrow' some for you, they literally cost the company pence for the small ones.

screw fix direct sell earplugs, you can buy packs of them, they are really cheap and work great, i am a sound technician and quite often have to wear earplugs in noisy environments and i get mine from there, although haven't orded any for a while so i only assume they still sell them

i seriously recommend these ones: http://www.proplugs.com/

theyre everything i could want from ear protection; they're inconspicuous, they don't muffle sound (like those yellow foam ones do), and most of all they prevent tinitus.

they cost about £12, and i picked some up at 'andy's drums' on denmark street in central london

do you know that they prevent tinitus from experience or is it just what they say?
i have tinitus and this sort of thing would be IDEAL... but maybe cos i have it permenantly, it wont work :frown:

I tried using ear plugs.... how did u hear your alarm in the morning?

u can buy foams ones from boots for about £3. thats what I have

my ears have been ringing since last night after some excessively loud music was blasting in this club we were at for some freshers event. really really annoying

yeah, i have permenant tinitus myself from drumming, and i can tell you that since buying these it may even have reduced, and definitely has not got any worse.

These things are transparent and not particularly noticable, so i wear them at nightclubs/pubs too, as i've become extremely conscious about doing further damage to my hearing

I get mine from www.htfr.com

you should buy shooting range headphones - all the knobjockeys around you will be deaf while you will hear NOTHING

All the ones I've worn reduced the sound down to about 15% of their original volume...you won't catch many tunes like that but still, I buy my plugs from chemists (most supermarket chemists will sell 'em) or from motorbike accessory shops (as they help cut out the constant roaring of the wind through your helmet).

Hope that helps.

I brought some of those ones yesterday from boots  Hopefully they'll be enough to stop my ears from getting damaged even more.

Someone may well have said this already, but I can't be bothered to look through all the replies!

Go to Boots, Superdrug, or any chemist, you'll be able to pick up earplugs from there, the foam type that you roll up and then they adjust to your ear shape.

Hey, I'm sorry for dragging this thread back up the board, but I've just checked out that site and seen that they do a form of ear plug for swimming too. Do you know of any shops in London that sell this type? I take it that Andy's Drums only sell the type for musicians... lol
