Best holiday destinations for 17 year olds?

Ok, basically, me and a few friends are considering going on holiday next summer, we will all be 17 at the time. We are weighing up the pros and cons of each destination and trying to figure out where to go; what place would best suit our needs, etc. I decided to post this to get some suggestions for destinations and things to do in those particular places. We a currently considering Spain (Barcelona), Cyprus (Pathos), and possibly Egypt, other suggestions are welcome as well.

For me personally, I would like a nice mix of clubbing, some activites, nice restaurants etc.

Could you please tell me some destinations and say what was good/bad about them, what you liked and didnt like, why you went there, and what sort of holiday it was (ie, clubbing/parties, activities/leisure etc..). Cost and duration of stay would also be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Tripadvisor have a good holiday suggester thing. They have some cheap deals for flight + hotels below if you sort by price (the first ones that show up look expensive).

Don't think there are any restrictions on age either. No matter where you go if you're with some good buddies you'll have an amazing time! So don't worry too much about finding the perfect place.

I haven't been on holiday with friends, but knowing peole who have been to Greece on holiday I would say it would be a good destination because the legal drinking age & for getting into clubs is 17, so you won't be restricted in what you can do/where you can go. I had some friends who went to Ios when they were 17, and they had a great time- I think it was spent mostly relaxing on a beach during the day & clubbing at night.

Turkey sounds nice. Greece is the usual one people go to.

If you go to Cyprus, dont go to Paphos, its expensive and theres nothing around it. If you want Cyprus and you're young, you're better off on the East coast, Protaras is a nice resort with a strip that containts lots of restuarants, bars, party party bars, and 3 nightclubs. Plus Ayia Napa is 10 minutes away by taxi. The east coast of Cyprus also means the Turkish occupied norrth is easily accessed, and the archaeological sights at Salamis and the ghost town of Varosha, abandoned in 1974 make it a very memorable place to visit.

Dont go to Paphos, the east is much more exciting, thats from my experience anyway

Make sure you book it with a Travel agent thats ABTA bonded this means you get security with booking, DONT book it online as most hotels will not allow you to stay unless you have parents permission if your under 18  I know this because I used to work for Hays Travel.

I would recommend Zante if you're looking for clubs and nightlife my cousin went when he was 18 with a load of friends and all they done was club on a night and relax on the beach during the day plus its hot!

I'd say Greece! ... but i went to Tenerife a few years ago and that was muchos fun. Barcelona is also fantastic ... i love it there. Lots to do and see there during the day, like the Sagrada etc. The bars are expensive though .. we got 2 drinks in one bar and it came to £11.

Marmaris- Turkey... But girls, stick together! the men out there are terrible. Lots of thing to see and do,clubs, lovely cheap restaurants, and very cheap markets.
You can get really cheap sea cruises too, and day trips to Rhodes in Greece.

We went of a trip to Dalyan, went to turtle beach, saw some tombs and went to the mud baths, for about £15 full board! booze included!
Aother day we went to a trip to Pamukkale and swam in some springs with roman ruins beneath us, £20.

Personally I would recommend Mallorca (Playa de Palma) or somewhere in Ibiza (Playa d'en Bossa).

Playa de Palma is one of my favourite places ever. If you like clubbing and partying, you can do plenty of that. The beaches are gorgeous, nice bars and places to eat and shops and stuff too all along the beach promenade. Perfect.

WELL this summer 2010 I went on my first abroad holiday with 5 of my closest girl friends and we went to Malia in Crete, Greece and to be quite honest with you it was my best summer ever!
I wont lie, it was verrrrry messy and I did experience one of the worst hangovers of my life on it, but my advice to you is purely don't go on the booze cruise, it's lethal. Other than that it's a really good place for generally partying as most of it is compacted onto the main strip.
I loved that fact that you don't have to pay to get into clubs there and all the bars give you drinks deals if your in groups or ask for them...our personal favourite was 2 drinks, 2 shots, and a fishbowl for 5 euros haha! One night with 16 of us (we made some amazing friends there who have already been to visit us) we managed to get 60 free shots as part of a deal so generally its pretty cheap there.
For nice clean, well kept hotel with really good placement I'd recommend Danaides Appartements, its where I stayed and the only criticism I could say is they have serious issues about you walking on the grass, they will charge you for ANY damages and they start the pool music at about 10am hahaa so you've got to be up for partying.
Anyyyyyway I had a great time, as you can tell so would recommend it! Oh and I booked with Olympic through Co-op because they were only company offering it for 17 year olds

Hey! Me and 5 other girls all went away summer just gone for our first holiday and it was the time of our lifes. We booked a weeks stay through Thomas Cook in Palma Nova at a hotel called Hotel Don Bigote - BEST. CHOICE. It was £419 for the hotel, flights and half board which meant we got breakfast and dinner which is the best you can get at 17 as obviously all inclusive is only available 18 and up. Palma Nova is 10 minutes walk from Magaluf and the strip - we weren't originally looking for a clubbing holiday but we soon converted! The strip was fantastic, great deals but be patient with the club promoters and looky looky guys! haha what we loved the most was that we could enjoy the nightlife of Magaluf, a short walk home and it was peaceful, like two separate worlds! The hotel had some bad reviews but we had no problems whatsoever, the maids cleaned our rooms everyday without fail if we put the door tag on and they left it spotless, also incredibly friendly albeit not speaking very much English! :P Food was basic but nice.

You have Palma beach, and Magaluf beach separated by a small cliff. We personally preferred Palma beach, as the sun hit it more and the cafes offered free wifi meaning you could surf the net from your sunlounger. Palma also had watersports such as banana boats, doughnuts, parasailing etc and great deals - we spent almost everyday on the beach. The rep's will talk you through excursions, and i'd recommend the UV paint party, the Pirates reloaded show (make sure you chose reloaded! It's 18+ and they reps don't care about your age) They also offer a booze cruise which we were unable to do, and trips to markets which tbh was boring and we found a waste of money. We met tonnes of nice people out there, didn't see any trouble and we went late July.

I'd honestly recommend this to anyone at 17, as the stay in Palma means it's not party central 24/7 but Magaluf is only ten mins away - a great holiday to break you in!
