I'm doing CHEM1, CHEM2, CHEM5, HBIO1, HBIO2, HBIO5, Core 1 and Core 2

Biology is sorted, just need to do my mock exam papers.

Chemistry, meh. Apart from CHEM5 I am hopefully going form near full marks. Need to get back and go over CHEM5 lol. for CHEM5 I have really milked the Collins book the most. AMAZING BOOK!!!!

I would say Nelson Thorns is pretty decent on the understanding of Transition metals etc. USELESS on Electrochemical cells. Seriously it's CRAP!

Collins and CGP . Although I have found CGP a little too simple for my liking. It's brilliant to get the general knowledge on the section. You'll have to refer to Collins after CGP or even Nelson Thorns. <---That's me anyway lol

COLOURS- CGP have a coloured diagram, cant remember page but it's easy to learn!

(PS if you've not got the CHEM5 collins book get it now! Amazon are selling fro 3.99 with free delivery, brand new )

Maths-I will DIE if I do any more papers.

The site you said it pretty decent! :colone:

Most schools seem to be doing AQA. :frown: Do you know if AQA is easier or they're about the same hardness?
Good luck with all your revision for those exams

they're all similar difficulty, although I have heard of people who have taken OCR Maths and got B/C average. Come out of AQA Maths exams with A*/A..

I think Its only for math though. Chemistry is more or less similar I think!

i would say edexcel is harder. aqa is the easiest for sciences. edexcel is the easiest for maths apparently.

most grammar schools do aqa sciences and edexcel maths

I did edexcel maths which was quite nice. Edexcel chemistry is hard though. All exams should be the same difficulty level.

Ooh... that is a BIG difference in grades! OCR maths must be really hard then

Congrats!
Are you in Exeter as well?

No I'm all the way up in Birmingham....4 hour coach ride there and 4 hours back. Luckily I'm crashing at my mates for the night.

All the way up there!!

It's one of the awkward places where you can't justify £200 for a train or plane and settle for a £60 coach
I do Edexcel Chemistry :P and I also did Edexcel Maths and it was not as easy as it sounds, especially when you decide you only actually need 3 A2 to get to uni !

Actually I meant is your interview in Exeter
But considering how far you are, four hour coach is not bad..
I'm in London the total travel time will be 4hours by train (and I'm supposed to be closer :s-smilie:)
And ouch about the price! Your coach fare = my train fare
Wish I could crash at a friends though instead of paying another £67.5 to stay overnight at Jury's Inn
AND my GP charged me £25 for my forms.. This whole process is turning really expensive and we're only just at interview stage (NOT that I'm complaining of course)

hahaha last year I even had to pay for the CRB check as it was one of the conditions of my offer when I didn't even meet the grades!
I handed in my form to the GP yesterday but I've had a call back from the receptionist telling me it could take 2 weeks wtf :/ I hope this doesnt get me into any bother D:
So here's a question to everyone with exams in January.

I'm assuming all your friends went away to University and are coming back this weekend or are already back. Are you planning on seeing them over the holidays and if so, how much?

I'm really conflicted here. It's literally been WEEKS since I left the house and that's only to go to Tesco which is like right behind my house! I didn't get in last year and I am fiercely motivated to revise and do so from early to late at night. But honestly? I feel like I just need a break! And I've managed to stay in touch with my friends but not seen them since they left. Should I or should I not set aside a little time for socialising? This seems like a fairly stupid question and a little off topic but I really just want to revise and get my grades but I also miss my friends! Anybody else in this position? HELP!

Hey, I have exams in January and my friends who went to uni are also looking to meet up during the holidays :P The difference with me is I haven't done nearly as much work as you  My christmas holidays are going to be really busy with just straight revision (kinda my fault) but I think I might be able to get one day free at least. You have been working really hard and you should give yourself a break  I'm sure your grades won't suffer from it and you don't want to burn yourself out before your actual exams

I was thinking that, I am getting pretty exhausted of the endless cycle of revsion - breaks are reserved only for food and the bathroom :colondollar: the problem with me is when I'm in the zone, it takes a lot to get me out of it and I don't necessarily want to get out of it because in the event I do go out I have a tendency to stay out forever and then I'll be kicking myself when I haven't done the work I set out to do.

If you're worried about not having done enough revision, I wouldn't worry too much (but I'd worry a little!) because you've probably done more than you thought and I'm assuming you're taking a gap year and if you haven't got any commitments like a job or volunteering that take up a lot of your time and you have most of the days free then you have a sizable amount of time to get a lot done. Just get to it now rather than putting it off and you'll feel better  how many exams have you got and when do they start?

Yeah I'm starting proper revision today  and should hopefully be ready come January. I have 3 exams with the first being on the 13th and last being 27th. How many do you have?

I have 6, I didn't intend on taking so many but my coursework for Chemistry and Biology was so shockingly bad that school won't let me retake it :colondollar: so I'm having to retake exams that I got As and Bs in to bump up my UMS scores and secure As in my both Sciences -.-. At the same time I'm learning and understanding stuff better than I did during my time in 6th form and realising what a terrible job my teachers did "teaching" me this stuff which I understand so much better on my own! The one good thing about these resits is that if (fingers crossed) I get my As, it will have been through my own hard work, I will have proved my teachers wrong by exceeding their expectations and shown them they are terrible at their job (as the current sixth form students agree) and they can't brag about it . They weren't very supportive or nice to me during my time there so apologies if this comes across a bit harsh or snooty :colondollar:

Don't worry I know the feeling! My maths teacher had no belief in me and tried to throw me off the course because I was getting horrific mock grades and I just couldn't keep up with the speed of the teaching. When I started teaching it to myself, I understood it so much more. I was so happy when I ended up with an A (1 of an A* :P) and trust me there is nothing more satisfying than proving your teachers wrong
