what kind of exercise?... for cardio do the second one, 3-4 times a week spread over a week is enough.

Bodybuilding. No more than 2 times a week spread over a week.

depends how extreme the blocking you suggest is. Like, training every day for a year, then taking 3 months off = gay

oh sorry yeah its cardio.

My routine goes :

M - Gym & basketball training
T - Rest
W - Gym
T - Rest
F - Train & basketball training
Sat - Rest
Sun - Rest

Theres no rule for rest days when it comes to exercise, it depends on so many factors, but as rock asks, what sort of duration/intensity are you doing?

ah, nothing too heavy. maybe 45 minutes/an hour cycle of running and cycling (gym)

Well, I'd go out on a limb and say you could do that amount of exercise everyday without needing a rest day, your body will easily be able to cope with that amount but its just whether or not your mind can, so just have the rest days when you feel you need a break from the monotony or whatever.
