Internet Service Providers really need to prevent people accessing sick and dangerous sites like child pornography and terrorist sites - why are they reacting so slowly to these obvious problems. Maybe the govt. should do something more to restrict access to particular sites. What do you think?

How can they do this? Anybody can make a site of any contents thats the problem? Hosting services ban these sites straight away but all the peado's need to is run thier own server.

It really is not as simple as it sounds. Its not like a TV station were the government can directly control the contents.

it is pretty disturbing the amount of indecent information going around the internet, and i agree, children are particulary vulnerable and can easily access porn or other inappropriate sources.

I think that the govt. needs to become v. tough though - maybe 1984 is the only way to regulate society

Then lets move onto Nazism. You will never get that vote passed by the public.

All this is all well and good but it very hard to moderate. The police are activily tryingto close these sites down.

I think the only real solution is tougher sentances on the sick *******s that do this kind of thing.

Internet is not really life threatening. What about rapist? Should we kill them all? Should we kill all murderers?

but it threatens our society with terrorism sites and our children with child porn - children are being abused as well.

another thing is that the technology is available to track down people who access these sites but the offences are on the increase nonetheless

Yet you wish to run the country in a 1984 fashion. I know I was pretty uptight, but this is OTT.

Its very hard to track these people down. You do it by getting their IP address, then you need to go to to ISP they will only reveal the address to police and MI5 etc. They also require them to get a court order and then once this in place the ISPs often charge the police a fee to give them the address. So you can imagine how time consuming it is.

that information should be made free and accessible to the authorities so that the police can monitor suspicious web activity
