MMR / Fever

For some universities, you have to get the MMR vaccine. Apparently you get a fever after 7-8 days, and it's supposed to last 1-2 days. I got a headache and fever on the second day after getting the vaccine, and I still keep getting it every evening. It's now the tenth day of fevers. Was wondering if anyone who got the vaccine got fevers like that too?

Oh yes, forgot to mention. Went to the doctors, she did the usual checkup, said everything was ok. But she asked to do a blood test (count) just in case. Blood test seemed ok too, all counts were ok apart from lymphocytes which were a bit off but she said that was due to the vaccine. So apart from that she couldn't find any reason for me having a fever for so long!

I would worry too much, there were stipulated some minor side effects from after the jab. My friend actually passed out after having it, twice. Onto solid concrete, It wasnt so fun.

You need to have a second one around 18-19 in order to still have protection.

I was fine when I had mine a month or so ago.

I had a stiff neck (couldn't turn without moving my whole body), felt queasy, ill and very hot for about a week or so. Better than having any of the full-blown bugs though.
Bah, I'll just drink the blood of a virgin and everything will be fine...

I had mine last week and felt really feint and horrible for about 20 mins straight afterwards, never had that from an injection before! the nurse said it was normal though- odd. i also felt really ill a couple of days after but then i was fine. just hope i dont feel ill in freshres week, as one part of the vaccine is meant to kick in, and possibly give fever ect, after 2/3 weeks- exactly my freshers week!

I only got a vaccine against measles a few years ago, since I had had everything else. That was quite bad, I got what is called "Impfmasern" meaning vaccine induced measles, which resulted in about 4 weeks of fever on and off (worst from about day 5-14 post inj.) + swollen lymphatic glands which were very painful. After about 4 weeks everything was ok.
Personally I wouldn't touch the MMR. Nor would I let my child have it. I'd take them to France and get seperate vaccines done. It's dodgy.

Have you ever actually read the autism/MMR statistics? I'm assuming that's why you think it's dodgy....
Some time do and observe how beautifully backwards the survey was carried out....

Well I have had MMR when I was younger and about 1 month ago. I am fine, my brother is fine, all my friends are fine who had MMR. The MMR vaccine is completely safe.

I would definitely make my children have it! Simply because we are in the situation were people are so worried that they will get autism that they are not having the injection and mumps is becoming very rife, all because of scare stories! Its worrying.
