ring them up again, ive found occasionally you get someone decent who can help rather than the rest who are utterly useless like the organisation itself

So I have endured the process of working with Student Finance, I've accepted that they're busy and it will take a while, I was fine with the constant requests for more and more evidence that they never stated anywhere they would need. But now they have ****ed up so bad it is unfathomable.

They finally sent me a Payment Schedule letter...for 2009/10 at the wrong university . It actually says my grant will be paid on 21/09/2009

And yet on my account on the Student Finance website I have another timetable for the correct university and year (at least they got that right).

I rang them up and said I need to fill in a change of circumstance form, but my circumstances haven't changed. They have screwed up on their end and expect me to correct their mistake for them (by filling in a form that doesn't appear to have anything to do with my problem).

God. What should I do? Ring them up again and shout at them?

The form has everything to do with your problem, it will change your university - though its already right online. With SFE its best to send everything you can and hope they eventually get the right idea about where youre going, when, what for and what support you want. Tbh this is par for the course, my 4 years of SFE I had AT LEAST 3 errors each year and that doesnt include re-requesting evidence.

Your an idiot can you not see what you have to do? Build a time machine and go get your grant of course.

Should I also remind them that it's no longer 2009? That form is for people who have actually changed circumstances. I haven't. I haven't changed university, I haven't changed course, I haven't went back in time to 2009. My application is right, everything on my online application is correct. They are sending me laughably incorrect letters. they have obviously cocked up at their end and I'm going to ring them up and explain that.

Yeh but they dont change stuff - I filled in my forms asking to be assessed, asking for a maintenance loan and a DSA assessment, during a month we had every combination possible - none of them, one and not the other two, no longer the one but the other two..Just cos the SFE should work doesnt mean they do. Any search on here will show that.

If anyone Indian works at a call centre, people automatically assume it is an "Indian call centre". I once worked at a call centre for a bit, and the guy next to me had a slight Indian accent even though he could speak English perfectly well and he had so many problems with this.

Damn I am scared because I am still waiting.

Only if you're in one of the LAs that is centralised... otherwise you send it to your own LA HQ.

Reply 13

Wrong university, wrong year, sounds to me like you applied last year but didn't go tbh.

Do you mean LEA? and the forms all go to Darlington for the new students as they arent assessed by the LEAs any more.

At least you've got something. I applied a month before the deadline, they ****** everything up and now god knows when I'll get anything

No, I mean LA, Local Authority. They seemed to switch to calling them LAs rather than LEAs a few years back now.
And yeah, I just saw that new students from 09/10 onwards all send their stuff to Darlington. Continuing students from before then still do what they always did though.

And I suppose you'd blame my information not being receieved on 'you didn't send it in'? You work for them by any chance? Because that's the only reason someone would stick up for such sh**e.

I'm in the same boat, I applied January 29th and it's not august 24th - they STILL say they haven't got the FIVE lots of financial info my parents have sent in, and haven't got my THREE passport numbers I've sent in. They're a useless and rubbish service and I'll be glad to see the back of them - I got a job this summer just to pay for next year, that's how much I hate them. Last year they deleted my whole application and I didn't know until August, and this year they're telling me I have 6 weeks to get my 09-10 stuff in (for the THIRD TIME) or else I get no Loan whatsoevee this year because there's no proof for 09-10 income - 6 weeks, and I only know that because I rang them, wasting yet more money just to be told that I have to send in yet MORE info!

They lost 3 lots, then they miraculously found their way onto the system, and now they're waiting on 3 forms that I have personally sent AND faxed them. I'm sorry, how hard is it to check a few pieces of paper and click 'send'? I applied in January, and it's still not done - my boyfriend applied in April, and his was sorted by July. The whole system is messed up and for ANY new student, go get a job and pay for it yourself - you don't get the Loan in time anyways so why even bother relying on it, it's more stress than it's worth!

That's my Account page. There is no 2009/10 application. When I click "View your application" it gives me all my correct details. Correct year, correct university, correct timetable, correct loan and grant amounts. They have received all my evidence. The mistake is unbelievable.

As are many of those posted on here. Theyre incompetant and refuse to make sufficient changes.

You didn't answer my question though, did you make a 2009/2010 applicaiton last year and not take it up?

I'm also not employed at SFE before people say that.
